Did You Know...

... that Capital Region's ICL competitors were in four different teams at Paraclete XP and in the judging room?

Participants of the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2020
posted Mar 17th, 2020 - Skydiving centers and wind tunnels were still operating in Europe and in the United States throughout the month of February, and the Indoor Cloud League leaderboard could be completed, at least on the 14+ leaderboard.

The situation has now changed in Europe, where not only the indoor events have been canceled or postponed. Most of the skydiving centers and wind tunnels have been shut down in the meantime, while the corona virus and its impact have not caused any interferences for the sport of indoor and outdoor skydiving in the United States yet.

The major professional U.S. sports and their events were canceled earlier, and it could be only a matter of time when skydiving centers and wind tunnels will be closed, as well.

However, Indoor Cloud League events took place in February, and the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship at the end of February was completed successfully and as planned, as well. The Czech and Finnish teams even managed to run their March meets of the World Tunnel League, as well as the Arizona Skydiving League.

37-pointer: Paraclete XP's RRR Class lineup in February
The Hurricane Factory dominated once again on the February leaderboard. Only Paraclete XP's RRR Class lineup (Lucy Paul, Matt Alarif, Bubba Brunson, Kirk Verner) were able to steal one of the six highscores. Dave Correia and Steve Platt guided Casey Chen and Chenglong Wang to the maximum score of 25 points that tied the Czech 25-pointer by the HF Invisible juniors in the R Class, who completed 28 points within working time.

Even though the Czech teams completed their March meet of the World Tunnel League, things began to change in Prague, as well. The HF Cubs did not attend the event due to the situation with the corona virus, and some other teams did not have their complete lineups.

The HF Cubs were prepared for their trip to Belgium for the FAI Indoor World Cup, where they would have been one of the top contenders for medals in 4-way Women. However, the event was canceled just a few days after the scores of the World Tunnel League meet at the Hurricane Factory were posted.

HF Cubs, Flying Rebels, HF Dragonflies and the new Czech 8-way team Octopucz had also planned to travel to Berlin and compete at the German Indoor Nationals last weekend. This event was eventually canceled on a very short notice.

In the judging room: Gorka Amian at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2020
The NSL News had mentioned earlier that the Indoor Cloud League had a very strong presence at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship, and the coverage was not even completed by then.

The Capital Region team had one of the strongest delegations at Paraclete XP. ICL organizers Dee Caminiti and Gorka Amian were both participating, Dee Caminiti in 4-way and 8-way (AVG Honor), Gorka Amian in the judging room. Almost all of the February participants at the Capital Region's February event were in four different teams at Paraclete XP, as well.

Jill Stephenson trains and competes with Aviatrix, the U.S national 4-way team in 4-way Women, and she was also in the Aviatrixx 8-way lineup. All other Capital Region ICL members competed in the AA/Intermediate Class. Only Rosemarie Smith and Ian Conners of the ICL participants in February did not make the trip to Paraclete XP.

The Hurricane Factory is now closed, as well, and Czech scores and videos for the March sequences of the Indoor Cloud League may not be on the next leaderboard - if there will be one at all...
