Did You Know...

... that there is a big French 4-way family under the Monaco umbrella?

Monaco Aerokart Ak'demie AAA Class lineup
posted Mar 23rd, 2020 - The French Indoor Nationals was another event that took place before the corona virus changed and stopped almost all athletic activities in sports. However, none of the French national Formation Skydiving senior competitors participated in the event at iFly Aix-Marseille.

The French delegation was getting ready for the trip to Florida and their winter camp at Skydive DeLand, where they arrived shortly after the indoor competition was completed in Marseille. The training camp in DeLand would have been concluded with the Shamrock Showdown 4-way and 8-way competition at Skydive City.

The NSL News then reported on March 13th that the French national teams had to terminate their training camp in Florida: “The French government and skydiving federation had ordered the French delegation to terminate the training camp and return to France immediately, shortly after the U.S. government had announced at 30-day travel ban for European visitors.” The Qatar delegation left shortly afterward, and the Shamrock Showdown was canceled.

There was still one French national team that competed at the national indoor championships. The 4-way junior teams of the Aerokart Ak'demie are not ready yet to jump from air planes and could not join the French outdoor delegation in Florida.

Monaco Aerokart Ak'demie 1 and Monaco Indoor Team at the French Indoor Nationals 2020
It was the second time that the French national team in 4-way Junior won a AAA Class competition in France, after the Weembinamic in November last year. Last year, the same Ak'demie lineup had placed 3rd on the AAA Class leaderboard at the indoor nationals with a 25.5 average.

Without the Weembi High Rollers and the French national 4-way senior teams Monaco Aerokart Ak'demie did not have any serious opposition earlier this month, and the 4-way juniors still generated a new team record average in the AAA Class with their 26.0 average.

Tom Mattoni, Cameron Malie, Eliot and Oscar Massier are now in their 5th year with the same lineup. Tom Mattoni and Eliot Massier have even two more years together in one of the earliest lineups of the French 4-way junior project at Aerokart.

The current lineup would have won their next set of FAI gold medals in 4-way Junior (AA) at the upcoming indoor world cup in Charleroi, Belgium, as the reigning 4-way Junior world champions, HF Cubs, have moved up into the 4-way Women competition.

Tom Mattoni, Cameron Malie, Eliot and Oscar Massier have collected two sets of FAI gold and three silver medals together so far. Unfortunately, the FAI Indoor World Cup was canceled, as well, and the team may not be eligible for junior medals any longer next year.

They will probably soon meet the HF Cubs again on AAA Class leaderboards, even though the Czech team is eligible for the separate 4-way Women leaderboard. Both teams are very close to each other in AAA Class competition.
Monaco Indoor Team with Valentin Vazille
The HF Cubs have posted two 26+ averages earlier this year at the monthly World Tunnel League meets at the Hurricane Factory, and the Monaco Aerokart Ak'demie team finished with 26.0 at the indoor nationals.

The Monaco Indoor team has now taken the Aerokart teams under their Monaco umbrella, as well. Tom Mattoni's father Stéphane and his team mates cannot really keep up with the 4-way juniors any longer. However, they offer the French juniors the transition into senior 4-way competition, as they have done it with former Ak'demie member Kylian Forsans.

Stéphane Mattoni, Jeff Ronzevalle and Franck Vazille have now integrated Franck Vazille's son Valentin for the second time into their senior lineup.

Valentin Vazille started in the same Ak'demie lineup of 2014, together with Tom Mattoni and Eliot Massier. He continued with the same AA Class team that won this year's indoor nationals in this category. The winning Ak'demie lineup included Chloe Massier and Noe Mattoni, sister and brother of the new French AAA Class champions. It's a big French 4-way family under the Monaco umbrella...
