Did You Know...

... that inXPerience turned into F-5 and is turning into Kaos Theory XP?

Original inXPerience lineup at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2019
posted May 3rd, 2020 - The AA/Intermediate Class competition of the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2020 actually featured the closest race for U.S. indoor medals, compared to the other five Formation Skydiving indoor events. The three medal winners were separated by only nine points.

The NSL News had introduced the winner, Barhons, with the story on March 2nd. Three of the 12 teams at Paraclete XP also compete at outdoor meets with the same lineups, and one of them finished only one single point behind the winner. The same three teams had also met last year on the Intermediate Class leaderboard of the USPA Nationals.

The ranking order was different though. Tail Spin (9th) were ahead of SCZ ZEUS (11th), and F-5 finished in 16th place with a different name, inXPerience. With a new team member (Jason McClure) and a new team name, F-5, they turned the ranking order significantly and finished far ahead of the other two indoor and outdoor teams.

The F-5 team story began at the Triangle Skydiving Center, where Vega XP was running a team project to encourage skydivers to form and join teams. Vega XP member Brandon Kashani got in touch with the original inXPerience members (Anna Brunner, Preston James, Carl Kallgren, Dallas Smith) and initiated the new team.

Barhons - F5 - CT True Blue at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2020
2nd place at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2020
inXPerience started in the Rookie Class at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2019 and moved on in the AA/Intermediate Class at the Paraclete XP Summer Classic. The same lineup completed the 2019 season in the same category at the USPA Nationals.

Jason McClure joined the team after the USPA Nationals and replaced Dallas Smith in the point slot. That's when the team name changed from inXPerience to F-5.

He is by far the most experienced team member with approx. 4,000 jumps. He started competing at the Carolina Skydiving League meets around 1996 and attended his first USPA Nationals in 1998 as a videographer. Soon he switched to the point slot in front of the camera and competed with several teams, including the Angry Beez, at USPA Nationals throughout 2003.

His 4-way career culminated with the Angry Beez' 2nd place in the Advanced Class competition of the USPA Nationals 2002, after an exciting battle with Nemesis, including an extra round and tie-breaking procedures. He took a break from skydiving in 2007 and returned in 2013, then joined a new 4-way team, Off Cadence, as the tail in 2018, before taking the point slot for F-5 at the end of the 2019 season.

NMP PCH HayaBusa experience after Round 9 at the USPA Nationals 2019
The other current team members have between 200 and 650 jumps. Outside center Carl Kalgreen joined the team with a total of 41 jumps. Inside center Anna Brunner is the youngest member with 22 years of age. Anna Brunner and Carl Kalgreen both collected their first competition experiences with inXPerience/F-5 while Preston James attended a few earlier meets of the Carolina Skydiving League.

inXPerience/F-5 have accumulated a total of six hours of indoor training and had made 11 jumps at the time of the Paraclete XP indoor meet. Carl Kalgreen said that his team is very eager now to get back into freefall: "We are dying to get in the sky. With the challenge of COVID-19 we're working on physical and mental cross-training, so to speak. At one point, the logistics of 4-way BASE training was discussed, but we're going to play it safe and wait until the smell of combusted Jet A isn't part of a high fidelity visualization."

The young team had planned for 150-200 training jumps in 2020, which will be difficult to reach at this point. However, staying connected and maximizing visualization will keep spirits and motivation up, which are still at a high point after the performance at Paraclete XP and the visible potential. New goal is a spot on the USPA podium this year.

One of the team's highlights was a special HayaBusa experience after landing from Round 9 at the USPA Nationals 2019. The new chapter after the corona virus crisis will also begin with a new team name. inXPerience/F-5 will appear on the next leaderboard under Kaos Theory XP...
