Did You Know...

... that NMP PCH HayaBusa joined NSL Live Talk from five different places?

NSL Live Talk in June 2019
posted May 18th, 2020 - It was only March when NMP PCH HayaBusa's 4-way world champions were training at Skydive City, in preparation for the FAI Mondial Tanay 2020. The outdoor training camp took place before the cancellation and rescheduling of the next outdoor world meet.

Nobody knew by then that it would also be the last time that the HayaBusa members would spend time together in person. Shortly after their returning to Belgium the restrictions of the corona virus crisis were set in place, and they have not met each other live ever since.

New member Michele Silvi then asked for permission to visit his family in Italy, where he was locked down before he could return to Belgium. He was still in Italy when the complete current lineup, except team videographer Luc Van Britsom, agreed to meet for a new NSL Live Talk session last week.

The online conversation too place at six different locations, and the team members still don't know when they will be able to resume indoor or outdoor training. Skydiving centers and windtunnels are still closed in Belgium, and the travel restrictions would keep the team from traveling to other training sites abroad. This option would not be possible for NMP PCH HayaBusa anyway under their military guidelines. They have to patiently wait until the situation changes, and training will be resumed.

NSL Live Talk - Recorded on 15 May 2020
NSL Live Talk at the USPA Nationals 2019
The last NSL Live Talk with NMP PCH HayaBusa took place during the first winter training camp at Skydive City in Florida in December. It was still a live conversation in Zephyrhills before the corona virus crisis eventually reduced the interview options to online conversations. The NSL Live Talk sessions with Arizona Airspeed and XPG4 last week at Paraclete XP in Raeford, North Carolina, were the first recent ones that did not take place via the internet.

The NSL News did not follow up with NMP PCH HayaBusa when the team returned to Skydive City in March for more outdoor training. The ZOOM meeting at the end of last week was the latest online conversation with the world champions, almost a year after the last one in June 2019, when they announced their new team member, Michele Silvi.

It was also the first NSL Live Talk with Michele Silvi after the announcement in June 2019. It has been quiet for the new HayaBusa member ever since, as he has been waiting patiently for his time to come. According to the original plan, inside center David Grauwels would train and compete with HayaBusa throughout Round 10 of the FAI Mondial Tanay 2020, which was scheduled for August this year.

David Grauwels was still in his slot in March 2020, and Michele Silvi missed almost a whole year of training with the team, as nobody knew about the changes to come after the impact of the corona virus crisis.

Winter training at Skydive City in December 2019
NMP PCH HayaBusa were aiming at setting a new historic record. The next world championship title would have been the 3rd one with the same lineup, which has never been accomplished in the history of Formation Skydiving competition, and the team was facing a tough choice.

They decided to move on with the new team member after the cancellation and rescheduling of the FAI Mondial Tanay 2020. David Grauwels will move to the camera slot, as it has been planned for a while, and Michelle Silvi will have less time to get ready for the biggest challenges in the 4-way world.

The original plan would have given HayaBusa and the new lineup more than two years to get ready for the next outdoor world meet in 2022. The time period is now reduced to roughly one year, depending on when NMP PCH HayaBusa will be able to resume outdoor training. The FAI Mondial Tanay 2020 is scheduled for August 2021.

NMP PCH HayaBusa hope that at least their plans for later this year will materialize. They have had the USPA Nationals 2020 on their meet schedule, with an outdoor training camp leading into the next showdown with the U.S. national outdoor team, SDC Rhythm XP, and with the national indoor team, Arizona Airspeed, at the same time and place. This would also be the next opportunity for a new NSL Live Talk with the reigning Belgian 4-way world champions - and not via the internet...
