Finland and Czech Republic were in the group of countries that reacted very quickly to the outbreak of the pandemic with tight measures and restrictions. It is no surprise to coaches David Grauwels and Pete Allum that Finland is now going ahead with the first indoor competition after the break.
The Finnish teams have been in training for a while, and the two coaches have been working with Just4Fun and Blue Steel via telecommunication. David Grauwels and Pete Allum explained during the NSL Live Talk how they were dealing with the situation.
David Grauwels also reported from Belgium that his brother Andy has been in special training, as well. HayaBusa's home tunnel in Belgium has been back to limited operation, only for single fliers though. However, solo training is not only helpful for the artistic events. There are also great benefits for single team members, as two of the most experienced competitors and coaches in the world explained during the conversation.
However, original HayaBusa member Andy Grauwels, 4-way indoor and outdoor world champion of 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, thought that even individual flying training for only himself would be productive enough, and he signed up for his own tunnel time.
David Grauwels sent the videos to the NSL News, where his brother demonstrates how he is using the solo training for his own purposes and without his team mates. He selected 4-way sequences where he visualizes his own slot and performs it alone. In this case, he went back to sequences that NMP PCH HayaBusa had performed at an earlier competition.
The first solo copies his performance in Round 4 of the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019, one of the best HayaBusa rounds at the event. The second solo is showing the outside center in Round 8, which was the worst one at the indoor world meet. His brother David Grauwels and Pete Allum discussed the mental benefits of practicing 4-way competition in many different ways.

Travel restrictions across the borders in Europe will be lifted later this month, and the complete team will consider indoor and/or outdoor training in neighboring countries if the Belgian military headquarters approve.
However, neither Pete Allum from Spain nor David Grauwels from Belgium will travel to Finland this month to witness the next showdown between Just4Fun and Blue Steel. The March competition ended up with a 1-point advantage for David Grauwels' team, Just4Fun. Pete Allum said that his team, Blue Steel, is well prepared for this duel after their own consistent training in Helsinki.
Both teams know each other very well and even copy some of their techniques if it seems helpful. The Finnish national indoor and outdoor champions from Lapland, Pro Team, will probably only observe the competition from home and see whether the opposition in Helsinki is coming any closer...
