Did You Know...

... that HF Flying Circus outscored HF Cubs in May?

HF Flying Circus
posted Jun 4th, 2020 - The most recent NSL News update covered the upcoming indoor competition of the World Tunnel League in Finland, including a preview by coaches David Grauwels and Pete Allum. The story related to 4-way training and competition in the Czech Republic, where the corona virus crisis was also mastered well enough to resume windtunnel and dropzone operations. Teams from Finland and the Czech Republic will soon post scores on the same leaderboard of the WTL June competition.

Finland will have their two best teams behind the Pro Team facing each other in Helsinki, while HF Flying Circus and HF Cubs have their own ongoing AAA Class duel at the Hurricane Factory in Prague. The June competition will show if the Finnish teams could use their earlier restart successfully and move closer to the two best Czech teams. NMP PCH HayaBusa's David Grauwels has been coaching the Czech teams randomly, as well.

In the meantime, Jan Klapka has not only been working on getting his teams ready for the next indoor competition. He also resumed the Indoor Cloud League activities with a total of ten teams who performed the six May sequences and posted a new record total of the year with 158 points.

HF Flying Circus had the upper hand over the HF Cubs this time. The 4-way junior team of 2019, still reigning FAI world champions in this category, have been trying to continue with their outdoor training at the same time. Their visit in Most was bothered by weather last weekend, which did not support student training at Jan Klapka's skydiving school.

Pro Team with Kalle Pohjola in the tail slot
Jan Klapka said that the HF Cubs actually had a better indoor performance earlier in May when the windtunnel camera was not ready to record the sequences with higher scores.

The upcoming 10-round indoor competition at the Hurricane Factory promises a tight battle between both Czech teams, with the Finnish teams trying to get as close as possible.

HF Flying Circus has already been an indoor and outdoor team since the lineup came together. The HF Cubs as a team will soon demonstrate the transition from indoor to outdoor training and competition that a few other former 4-way juniors have made successfully in Canada (Yannick Bisson), France (Kylian Forsans) and Finland (Kalle Pohjola).

Behind HF Flying Circus and HF Cubs, two other Czech AAA Class teams are also competing with each other on a regular basis. Jan Klapka's M Team is still well ahead of the longest-standing Czech 4-way team, Accord.

The next duel is becoming even more exciting. The two junior teams HF Flying Rebels and HF Dragonflies have been pushing each other since they were formed.

Both teams are well ahead of the M Team and Accord seniors for AA and A Class sequences, and they are posting impressive and important scores in the A Class. HF Flying Rebels will compete for the Czech delegation in 4-way Junior at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2020 if the event takes place as planned.

Czech junior team Rusalky
Six of the ten Czech teams on the Indoor Cloud League leaderboard for May are 4-way juniors. The HF Chameleons are keeping up with the 4-way seniors in the A Class and are taking care of RRR Class sequences for the Hurricane Factory's ICL account. Soon they will have the next 4-way junior team, Rusalky, challenging them for the A Class highscores.

The Rusalky juniors have one more month to post RR and R Class highscores before they will not be eligible any longer for these two Rookie Class categories. The HF Chameleons had to leave the RR Class behind after two 25+ highscores in February and March. However, HF Invisible are ready and just waiting for their opportunity to replace Rusalky for RR Class highscores.

Jan Klapka would be in trouble again as soon as the other 4-way junior teams have to leave the R Class behind. Of course, he was well aware of this situation and began early to form the next 4-way junior lineup at the very beginner level.

He said that he was able to merge two other lineups of his 4-way junior project, HF Junior Green and HF Junior Blue. Roza Marvanovaá (Outside Center), Ester Gašová (Inside Center), Filip Rybín (Point) and Maruška Ochmat (Tail) joined forces to form the Smart Fish junior team. He even has an alternate for the team with Oliver Novák. Smart Fish will soon have the opportunity to show their skills with the first video for an R Class sequence.
