Did You Know...

... that Pamela Lissajoux is back for France in 4-way Women?

French Weembi Girls at the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2018 in Australia
posted Jul 20th, 2020 - The NSL News updates from France were not complete after the last one on July 15th. The recent changes of the French Formation Skydiving delegation for the FAI Mondial 2020 in Tanay next year began when national coach Mathieu Bernier told the NSL News that Clementine Praet will not continue with the 8-way team.

Mathieu Bernier first stepped into the active lineup to help out in training, before committing to the full slot until the world meet next year.

This was still not the end of the story. Clementine Praet also stepped back from the 4-way Women lineup, which has been one half of the French 8-way team since the beginning of the 2019 season. She had trained and competed with the French Weembi Girls (Pamela Lissajoux, Christine Malnis, Sophia Pecout, Michel Laynaud on camera) since 2015 and won her first world championship outdoor title in Australia 2018. The 2018 lineup finished with the highest meet average in the 4-way Women history (25.7) which would have won the bronze medals in 4-way Open at the same event.

The peak event of her career was also the occasion where NMP PCH HayaBusa member Dennis Praet officially proposed marriage after both world champion teams had landed from their Round 10 in Australia.

Pamela Lissajoux with French Weembi Girls at the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2018
Nephtys Weembi at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019
National coach Mathieu Bernier then developed a new plan how to put together a new and strong French 8-way team, which would consist of the two 4-way teams, with top priority on the 8-way event.

The French Weembi Girls had a new team member with Gaelle Giesen, who replaced Pamela Lissajoux. Gaelle Giesen would have double-duties in 4-way Women and 8-way, as well.

The 2019 season was a very successful starting year for Mathieu Bernier. The new 4-way Women lineup won at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2019, where the French 8-way team impressed with a 2nd place, only five points behind Russia. The first test of the challenging double-duties for the whole 8-way team was successful, too, as Mathieu Bernier did not expect any medals in 4-way Open.

His plan needed adjustments when Clementine Praet decided not to continue with the very demanding schedule after the 1-year experience with 4-way and 8-way double-duties.

The first step was to find a solution for the French 8-way team, which is checked off by now, followed by finding a replacement for Clementine Praet in the 4way Women team.

Pamela Lissajoux with Nephtys Weembi at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019
Back in 4-way action: Musician Pamela Lissajoux
The French national coach was fortunate to find out that reigning 4-way Women world champion Pamela Lissajoux was ready for a comeback. She had stepped back after winning in Australia, even though she still attended some indoor meets with similar success after only little training efforts.

Pamela Lissajoux helped out when Jessica Thebault was still injured right before the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019. The Nephtys Weembi, now with two outdoor world champions of 2018 in the lineup (Clementine Praet, Pamela Lissajoux), defeated the charging NFTO 2019 lineup by two points and won gold medals.

Pamela Lissajoux was also in the French 8-way indoor team at the same event, which placed 2nd and posted a 44-pointer world record in Round 6. Then she went back into hibernation and playing music with her band until Mathieu Bernier needed her again for the current situation.

This second adjustment brings the world-champion front piece of the French Weembi Girls back together. Christine Malnis was the point in Australia 2018 and has been in the outside center slot ever since, together with point Clementine Praet in the front piece. Pamela Lissajoux won her gold medal as outside center for the French Weembi Girls. The rear piece remains unchanged. Mathieu Bernier's second adjustment is also very promising...
