Did You Know...

... that new NSL-TV videos feature XPG4 jumps and Arizona Airspeed exits?

XPG4 with coach Niklas Hemlin
posted Sep 7th, 2020 - The NSL News has covered the U.S. indoor champion in 4-way Women, XPG4, regularly after visits at Paraclete XP for team updates and NSL Live Talk. XPG4 is not only an indoor team and have completed over 120 training jumps by now. However, it took a little while until the timing of the visits was right to collect some outdoor footage for the NSL News audience.

The most recent NSL News visit eventually coincided with an XPG4 outdoor training camp, and the weather conditions were perfect. XPG4 added a good number of training jumps to the outdoor account, and the team provided enough footage for a short review of the current outdoor performance level.

The lack of live skydiving competitions during the corona virus crisis is a very unfortunate situation, and XPG4 plan to participate in the NSL Cloud Mondial 2020 and the U.S. Nationals 2.0 which are both connecting the teams via the internet.

XPG4 have not attended any outdoor competitions so far. The original 2019 lineup, with outside center Katrina Autry Shows, competed first at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2019 and then won bronze medals at the FAI Indoor World Meet a month later.

Jeana Billings and Michelle Karamon then continued with Tamara Bartlett and Irina Meshcheryakova and finished as the best 4-way Women team at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2020. This event qualified XPG4 as U.S. national indoor team for the FAI Indoor World Meet 2021.

The NSL News reported next on March 20th that original member Morgan Womble re-joined XPG4 and replaced Tamara Bartlett. Jeana Billings, Michelle Karamon, Irina Meshcheryakova and Morgan Womble then made outdoor plans until the USPA Nationals 2020, where they would be able to qualify for FAI events in 2021.

Aviatrixx was automatically sanctioned by USPA as the U.S. national team in 4-way Women after finishing as the best all-female U.S. team in 4-way Open at the USPA Nationals 2019. Michelle Karamon and Jeana Billings were still competing with Ranch 2nd Generation and XP8 at the same event. They decided after the national championships to resume the XPG4 project and also take it to the skies this time.

Aviatrixx at the USPA Nationals 2019
Next chapter in this interesting 4-way Women story was the cancellation and rescheduling of the FAI Mondial 2021. At this point in time, the USPA Nationals 2020 at Skydive City in November would have been a new qualifier for FAI events in 2021, and the tickets to Tanay in 2021 were open again. XPG4 would have been back in the competition for the USPA status as the national team in 4-way Women.

This changed when USPA decided shortly after the cancellation of the world meet that the USPA champions in their respective categories would also represent the United States in Tanay a year and a half later, with Aviatrixx in 4-way Women. Skydive City then pulled back from hosting the USPA Nationals 2020, and USPA followed up with the cancellation of any national championships in 2020.

Nevertheless XPG4 were committed to continue with indoor and outdoor 4-way training. Michelle Karamon and Jeana Billings also had their additional 8-way schedule with Airspeed XP8.

The current XPG4 lineup has attended neither an indoor nor an outdoor competition yet. The previous lineup with Tamara Bartlett had outscored Aviatrixx at the Paraclete meet in February. However, the only events that offer a potential opportunity for the new lineup to meet the current national outdoor team in 4-way Women are the upcoming cloud meets, and Aviatrixx need the competition practice just as much as XPG4 would like to post their first outdoor scores...
