... that NSL-TV features Round 1 of the Paranodon Cup?

Felix Pfeiffer (2nd from left) with Paranodon Futura in 2019
posted Sep 9th, 2020 - The NSL News introduced the new Airbus lineup on August 23rd, and NSL-TV followed up with a video of a few training jumps on August 30th. Airbus had also signed up for the annual Paranodon Cup in Illertissen to collect the first competition experiences with the new lineup.

The newest, and with 25 years of age also the youngest team member, Felix Pfeiffer, made his first jump in 2018 and has attended only one competition in his short 4-way career so far. It was last year's Paranodon Cup where he competed with one of the Paranodon Futura lineups in the A Class.

However, Airbus members Sarah Mertes, Thomas Mack and Alexander Prendinger decided to select a young and talented German 4-way competitor for their open slot, and team videographer Andreas Troegele could recommend him as a regular at his home DZ. Andreas Troegele's father Robert operates the skydiving center and has been supporting young teams and competitors for several years in Illertissen.

Felix Pfeiffer has now moved from A Class competition in 2019 to the AAA Class dive pool with a team that plans to win back the 4-way top position in Germany. Oceanside AtomiX are the reigning German 4-way champions after taking away the top spot from Airbus at the German Outdoor Nationals 2019.

Austrian indoor champion 2020: Black Mantis
Felix Pfeiffer has completed more than 370 jumps since his first one in 2018, 270 of them last year. Airbus were planning to add another ten rounds to the team account with the 10-round competition at Skydive Paranodon. Unfortunately, poor weather conditions were in the way of an interesting competition.

It was not only the former German national 4-way team with its new lineup who were ready to post the first outdoor scores of the year in Germany and define the team's starting point.

Four local teams, three of the Futura project and the Paranodon 4-way seniors, had signed up for the meet, together with the new Austrian team Black Mantis, and the longest standing German 4-way team, NeVa FSZ Saar.

The NSL News had introduced Black Mantis the first time in October 2019. The Austrian team then attended this year's Wind Games, and the NSL News followed up with more details on February 17th.

Black Mantis then won the Austrian Indoor Nationals before the corona virus crisis brought an end to indoor and outdoor competition. The Paranodon Cup would have been the first 2020 outdoor competition for Black Mantis, as well.

Round 1 of the Paranodon Cup 2020
NeVa FSZ Saar in 2008
NeVa FSZ Saar did not have to travel far, as the team is home in the southern part of Germany, as well. NeVa was launched in 2004 and had the longest standing German 4-way lineup in 2015. Martin Petry, Uwe Rospert, Christian Schlichting and Rolf Bormet had trained and competed together for eight years and finished with a team record average in 4th place at the national championships that year.

The lineup has changed a few times since 2015. However, original members Martin Petry and Rolf Bormet are still training and competing with NeVa. They have Ralf Bissbort and Martin Schödel in their current lineup, and Erik Lorenz is still filming the team, after many years on the NeVa camera.

Martin Schödel, who had joined NeVa from German 4-way team Wolfpack at the beginning of the 2019 season, was injured, and Jupp Kampmann stepped in for the Paranodon Cup.

Videographer Erik Lorenz is also filming the German national 8-way team, Airbus, where Alexander Prendinger trains and competes, as well. Another Airbus 8-way member competed in 4-way at the Paranodon Cup. Linda Köb guided the second Paranodon Futura team in the A Class as the player-coach. She and Alexander Prendinger trained and competed together with Eyjafjallajökull before all four team members joined the new Airbus 8-way lineup.
