Did You Know...

... that Jerry and the Jets are currently leading the NSL Cloud Mondial AAA Class leaderboard?

NSL Championship 1998 winner: DeLand Genesis
posted Oct 28th, 2020 - The October meet of the Southern California Skydiving League was one of the events that used the competition draw of the NSL Cloud Mondial 2020. It allows the participating teams to compare their own scores with the best teams in the world, and with several others on similar performance and scoring levels.

This format is the same that the National Skydiving League has been using since it was launched with three leagues (Florida, Texas, Georgia) in 1998.

The same three leagues tried to coordinate their event schedules as good as possible and finally came together live at Skydive DeLand for the NSL Championship.

The NSL Network grew quickly, nationally and internationally, and soon there was no need any longer to coordinate the event dates, as each weekend would bring enough teams together for an attractive combined leaderboard with the same competition draw. A new and different draw was posted for each weekend. The same format was still applied until last year and before the corona virus pandemic changed everything, within and outside of the skydiving world.

Fortunately, the National Skydiving League had already introduced a new format for the Indoor Cloud League and the World Tunnel League years ago, which was based on the same idea of bringing teams together on the same leaderboard with the same competition draw.

The impact of the corona virus pandemic on Formation Skydiving competition did not not require a new invention of a format that would allow 4-way teams to still have a platform for their passion under the circumstances. The National Skydiving League simply applied the ICL/WTL format on outdoor competition, which extended the time period for the same competition draw from a weekend to a whole month.

Last and not least, the idea of substituting the canceled and rescheduled FAI Mondial 2020 by using the same event format became obvious enough to simply begin with preparations for the NSL Cloud Mondial 2020.

Several of the national teams who would have traveled to Russia in August, were motivated enough to use the opportunity and define their own performance and scoring level at this point in time and take a look at others. Additional other teams use the open leaderboard for the same purpose and to get some kind of competition practice.

Arizona Airspeed's 4-way world champion of 2012, Josh Hall, is running the Southern California Skydiving League, together with Mary SantAngelo, and they agreed to join the NSL Cloud Mondial leaderboard with their October competition. Josh Hall knows how important competition practice is for any team, and he did not hesitate to join.

Jerry and the Jets last weekend in Perris
Last weekend's competition took place at Skydive Perris, and seven teams used the opportunity. Josh Hall did not travel to Perris with his team, Elsinore Elevate.

However, there were three other 4-way world champions who competed at the event and put Jerry and the Jets on the NSL Cloud Mondial leaderboard, in 1st place of the AAA Class leaderboard at the moment.

Three Arizona Airspeed world champions with a total of five FAI 4-way Open Class gold medals (Eliana Rodriguez, Craig Girard, Dan BC), and with many other additional FAI medals, honored the event in Perris with their presence.

Perris skydiver Jerry Elliott, who entered the 4-way world with his own team project, as the NSL News mentioned on 18 December 2019, and he Perris Goldilocks and 3 Bears last year, invited the three world champions to followed through with training this year. Dan BC was the only player-coach with the Goldilocks, and the new lineup has lifted the scoring average close to USPA Advanced Class medal level in the United States. However, the team may rather qualify for USPA Open Class competition...
