Did You Know...

... that the AA Class teams competed at five different locations?

In the A Class at the ESL Championship 2019: High Voltage
posted Nov 16th, 2020 - The NSL Cloud Mondial 2020 included 4-way competition in the three other NSL categories (AA - A - RRR), as well. However, the participation resembled more a regular competition weekend of the NSL Network, the same way as it has been done for many years.

Teams of the Southern California, Texas and Midwest Skydiving League applied the same competition draw, which was identical with the eleven sequences of the NSL Cloud Mondial. The competition draw for a regular weekend of the NSL Network is usually posted on Friday evening and used only once on the upcoming weekend.

This time, the special circumstances of the corona virus pandemic caused a change of the format to make the logistics easier for participating teams. Result was a leaderboard that combined the teams at the league meets in Southern California, Texas and Midwest, while two other teams completed as many rounds of the NSL Cloud Mondial draw as they could at their chosen locations.

Seven of the nine AA Class teams posted their scores at the league meets, while U.S. team TailSpin XP and Belgian team High Voltage performed the same sequences on their own home turf.

The numbers of completed rounds were very different at the five meet locations. Events of the NSL Network have traditionally six rounds scheduled for a weekend, which were completed at Chicagoland Skydiving Center (Midwest) on August 29th, and at Spaceland Dallas (Texas) on October 10th. The teams at Skydive Perris added four rounds on October 24th.

The teams participating at the meets of the NSL Network had the option to add more rounds to the NSL Cloud Mondial leaderboard at later times.

The international competition had a flexible time-frame that allowed teams to complete the meet rounds at their own discretion and at any time within the time period.

The league meets also had their own judging, which was done at each competition site on the meet day. All teams participating in the NSL Cloud Mondial were under the scrutiny of the same international FAI judges, and their competition rounds were processed and posted on the InTime screen.

TailSpin XP and High Voltage uploaded the videos of their competition rounds to the NSL Cloud, where the process of judging and posting began.

The Belgian team High Voltage completed nine rounds before the combination of European fall weather and corona virus restrictions brought an end to the outdoor season. The NSL News mentioned earlier that NMP PCH HayaBusa jumped from a Belgian plane in September last time and will be on a hold until February.

TailSpin XP is home in North Carolina where they managed to complete ten AA Class sequences of the 11-round draw. That was the highest number of completed rounds on the AA Class leaderboard.

The AA Class leaderboard also needed adjustments due to the different number of rounds. All teams actually completed four rounds, and the ranking of the adjusted leaderboard is showing four teams separated by one single point behind the three top teams. SCSL team Perris You On? won the AA Class with the 24-pointer for the fastest sequence in Round 2, and TailSpin XP gave the 2nd place to SPX Toxic in the next fast Round 4. The three U.S. teams on the top of the leaderboard can probably be expected as medal contenders in the Intermediate Class of the next USPA Nationals.
