Did You Know...

... that SDC RhEvolution XP is back with a new lineup?

SDC RhEvolution XP lineup in 2019
posted Nov 29th, 2020 - Like at USPA Nationals, the 4-Way FS Skydiving Championships included a separate Advanced Class competition, even though the NSL leaderboard has listed all AAA Class teams at this event on the same leaderboard.

All three teams in Eloy (SDC RhEvolution XP, Repeat Offenders, Day 2) would probably sign up for the USPA Advanced Class competition at the national championships. In fact, the winner in Eloy, SDC RhEvolution XP, had competed in this category at the USPA Nationals 2019 and finished in 9th place of 18 teams with a 13.8 average.

The 2019 event was the second national championship for RhEvolution, after the start in the AA/Intermediate Class competition of the USPA Nationals 2018. The 2018 lineup (Chris Normandeau, Gorka Amian, Jason Krumholz, Josh Reinert, with Keith Nugent on camera) finished in 2nd place on the AA Class leaderboard and did not receive their USPA silver medals due to the lack of eligibility of a team member.

Chris Normandeau, Gorka Amian and Jason Krumholz continued with Greg Oldendick in 2019 and stepped up into the AAA/Advanced Class competition world, with Keith Nugent still on camera. The new lineup attended a few NSL meets in the new category before competing in the Advanced Class at the USPA Nationals.

The lineup changed again this year, after Gorka Amian and Greg Oldendick joined Skydive Midwest NEXT, as the NSL News reported on September 29th. Only original members Chris Normandeau and videographer Keith Nugent were back in 2020. Matt Alarif, Alex Bucevicius and Chris Webb were the new RhEvolution members when the team tried to launch the 2020 season under the circumstances of the corona virus crisis.

Alex Bucevicius had competed in the AAA/Advanced Class when RhEvolution placed 2nd in the AA/Intermediate Class of 2018. He was in Mark Kirkby's Arizona Alpha lineup and missed the bronze medal position by six points with a 14.1 average.

Matt Alarif and Chris Webb connected in the Paraclete XP lineups at several events of the Indoor Cloud League. Now they all joined forces with original RhEvolution member Chris Normandeau. Keith Nugent is still filming the team in his third year on RhEvolution camera.

SDC Rhythm XP member Andrew Happick was actually filming the team at the very first competition of the Midwest Skydiving League in May 2018. Current Rhythm videographer Justin Wageman covered the MWSL June competition in 2018 before Keith Nugent took over.

SDC RhEvolution XP at the NSL Cloud Mondial
SDC RhEvolution XP lineup in 2018
Andrew Happick and Doug Barron have been coaching SDC RhEvolution XP since the team was founded, and the 2020 lineup with three new members is back up on the same performance and scoring level as in September 2019. The 13.7 average matches the team's AA Class results at the last two meets in 2018 and the June and September numbers (13.6 - 13.8) of 2019.

SDC RhEvolution XP posted the first 2020 scores on the NSL Cloud Mondial 2020 leaderboard, followed by the scores in Eloy earlier this month.

It was not a walk in the park at the Eloy competition, even though the two other AAA/Advanced Class teams were new lineups, as well. In fact, all three teams with their lineups in Eloy attended their first live competition together.

Repeat Offenders and Day 2 were brand-new, while SDC RhEvolution XP had included the NSL Cloud Mondial sequences in their previous training camps. The new RhEvolution lineup had just completed their ten rounds of the online competition before traveling to Arizona, where they were facing a much easier competition draw...
