Did You Know...

... that the Czech indoor teams used their 2-week window successfully?

Hurricane Factory reopening on December 3rd
posted Dec 21st, 2020 - The NSL News update on December 4th had explained the current situation on the 14+ annual leaderboard of the Indoor Cloud League. It has obviously been a very strange year, and the ICL leaderboards are basically reduced to a database for teams, scores, videos and additional information.

The monthly events are still competitive, with highscores and winners in the six ICL categories, even though the annual leaderboard is very skewed due to the different situations at the participating wind-tunnels.

It is interesting that it was still a competitive situation at the time of the last update, mostly due to the same logistical differences across the leaderboard. The Hurricane Factory needed December scores to finish once again in the top spot at the end of the year. Paraclete XP still had a chance to take the top spot if the Czech teams could not get into their flying chamber in December.

Eventually, the Hurricane Factory was closed until December 3rd and then reopened for 15 days. It was locked down again on December 18th for the remainder of the year. However, Jan Klapka used the 2-week window to mobilize his teams, completed the December meet of the Czech World Tunnel League, and collected scores and videos for the six ICL sequences of December at the same time.

Hurricane Factory schedule for December 2020
The total of 137 points is the last December word from the Czech Republic, as the Hurricane Factory is locked down. The Czech scores cannot be improved any longer. However, the additional 137 points on the annual leaderboard make it practically impossible for any other team to catch up.

Paraclete XP would have taken the top spot with 115 points for December if Jan Klapka would not have been able to collect ICL points this month. After the additional 137 points, the Paraclete XP team now needs a total of 252 points to pass the Hurricane Factory.

Eight Czech teams had attended the WTL December meet, and the NSL News update on December 15th provided details of the competition. Ten teams then performed the six ICL sequences, and five of them combined for the total of 137 ICL points for December.

The NSL News had pointed out that 4-way junior teams HF Flying Rebels and HF Dragonflies posted scores for the first time in the AAA Class competition of the WTL December meet and outscored three senior teams right away. Both teams also competed with the other Czech teams in the same ICL category (AAA), which always includes a slot-switching block in a 6-point sequence.

December Highscores of the Hurricane Factory
Highscores in two Rookie Class categories: Rusalky
It was the first time that Jan Klapka had six teams performing the AAA Class sequence of the Indoor Cloud League draw. The result was the same as on the Czech WTL leaderboard in December: HF Flying Rebels and HF Dragonflies outscored the senior teams, except the two Czech top teams, HF Flying Circus and HF Cubs.

The additional 4-way junior team HF Chameleons joined the six AAA Class teams in the AA Class, where the monthly draw is always a 5-point sequence, one point longer than in the official FAI/ISC 4-way Junior event.

Four Czech teams (HF Flying Rebels, HF Dragonflies, M Team, Accord) even had their own 3-round competition during the Indoor Cloud League event this month. They all performed the AAA - AA - A sequences, and the HF Flying Rebels produced the highscore for the A Class sequence in this exciting internal competition for the best scores.

Rusalky, one of the Czech 4-way junior teams, currently with an all-female lineup, was the only Czech team with two highscores, even though they lost the A Class duel with the HF Juniors Invisible. Rusalky performed the R Class sequence just for a training exercise and ended up with a 38-pointer, which did not count for the Czech total, not even with the capped 25 points. Rusalky had scored 25 or higher twice, last time in May 2020.
