Did You Know...

... that the NSL Cloud Mondial January 2021 will be even better?

4-way Winner of the first NSL Cloud Mondial: NMP PCH HayaBusa
posted Dec 25th, 2020 - The NSL Cloud Mondial 2020 was actually created by the National Skydiving League to compensate somehow for the cancellation of all major outdoor events this year. It was not a new concept, as it has been applied for many years within the international NSL Network.

It was new though that it became a world-class one-time event with the best teams in the world participating and posting scores and videos on the same leaderboard. World-class teams have participated randomly at events of the NSL Network in the past, while it was coincidence when they happened to participate together with other top teams.

The lack of major events due to the corona virus implications was the reason for the creation of the NSL Cloud Mondial 2020, and it turned out to be even more exciting and competitive than it could be expected.

A total of 40 teams performed the same competition draw in the time-frame that was open for submission of videos and scores for as many of the eleven sequences as possible. The participating teams jumped from planes at several different locations, some of them together at smaller live events, others alone at places where it was possible to train and perform the NSL Cloud Mondial sequences.

Included in January: 4-way and 8-way indoor competition
The summary of the event on November 9th hinted already that the outcome of the event was successful and promising enough to consider a repetition in January, and then probably every month until the pandemic is under control, and live events will take place again without the current limitations and restrictions.

The first NSL Cloud Mondial was even promising enough to extend the event. The winter season is limiting the options for outdoor training and competition for many teams on top of the corona virus implications, and the wind-tunnel chambers are the only option for 4-way and 8-way Formation Skydiving.

The inclusion of indoor 4-way and 8-way could make it a very busy month for the NSL News. However, the first NSL Cloud Mondial has been exciting enough to justify the extension.

The major indoor events have been canceled, as well, and the NSL Network has been running monthly World Tunnel League events for years, as well.

The exclusively positive feedback after the NSL Cloud Mondial 2020 also credited especially the evaluation of the event, with NSL Live Talk in the Coaches Corner, and the indoor event will provide additional content and topics in the future.

Another interesting aspect is the fact that the same competition draw will be used for indoor and outdoor competition. There will be a number of teams who will be able to jump from planes in January, and they usually train indoors at this time of the year at the same time.

The NSL Championship has been experimenting with the ultimate 4-way combination for a few years, and it has made it only even more exciting for the participating teams in both 4-way events. 8-way competition is included in both environments, as well, even though the number of 16-foot wind-tunnel chambers is limited.

One very basic foundation of the previous NSL Cloud Mondial and the upcoming ones was the efficient cooperation with InTime and the judges. The experiences of the first event and the progression of the InTime online services will make the follow-up events even more professional and exciting.

InTime (Claire King, Dirk Venter) are ready to work together with the best international FAI judges, and there is a very good chance that there will be real live-judging streaming to every computer or online device for the next events. With InTime Online and the new virtual judging room well progressing, the competition can be judged in true real time, distributed judging rooms, by an international judging panel.
