Did You Know...

... that three teams posted January scores and videos?

Evaluation of NSL Cloud Mondial: Joey Jones, Gary Smith, David Grauwels
posted Feb 7th, 2021 - The follow-up NSL Cloud Mondial online competition in January did not attract the same world-class field to the shared leaderboard as the outline competition did in October/November last year.

The first version of the event was a substitute outdoor competition only, with the purpose to offer an opportunity for national teams to test their performance level shortly after the original date of the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020. The outdoor world meet was canceled due to the corona virus crisis and rescheduled for August 2021.

The world's best 4-way and 8-way teams completed their competition rounds at their own time and their chosen locations and then submitted the videos for the NSL Cloud Mondial. The InTime judging panel evaluated the videos of the competition rounds, and the scores and videos were finally posted.

A panel of Formation Skydiving competition experts evaluated the performances from the athletic perspective and discussed many topics during several sessions of NSL Live Talk. The NSL Cloud Mondial 2020 turned out as a very popular event and received a lot of great feedback.

Current Covid-19 spread across the planet
The encouraging feedback from participants and audience was enough reason to schedule a new event for the month of January. The same format would be applied, and indoor leaderboards were added as a choice for the teams without access to jump planes in the winter months.

The missing factor in the planning for the NSL Cloud Mondial in January 2021 was apparently the behavior of the corona virus, which still does not respect any of the measures taken across the planet to gain control and allow life, including sports, to find a way back to the situation as it was before the outbreak.

In fact, the pandemic intensified in the winter months, as it was expected by the medical experts, and the implications and restrictions were tightened up in most countries. Skydiving centers and wind-tunnels have been far from normal operation in the months after the original version of the NSL Cloud Mondial.

VDV-1 (Russia) - Agera FS 2022 (Norway) - Jump Florida Furtherance (United States) at the NSL Cloud Mondial January
Confirmed as Norway's national team until 2022: Agera
No outdoor videos of the January draw were uploaded at all, and only three teams performed the eleven sequences in their home flying chambers last month. InTime's Dirk Venter and Claire King still processed the available footage, and the scores and videos have now been posted.

The new Russian indoor shooting stars of the VDV-1 team followed up on their 30.4 average at the Russian Indoor Nationals 2020 with 30.5 for the complete dive pool. The NSL News update on January 28th had introduced the team in detail.

The Norwegian national 4-way team Agera FS 2022 was the first team on the January leaderboard, and the update on January 21st brought the news from Norway. Team member Kjetil Levik confirmed that they are now facing even heavier traveling restrictions inside the country. Agera FS 2022 still plan to participate in the next NSL Cloud Mondial event.

AA Class team Jump Florida Furtherance performed their competition rounds as a part of iFLY Tampa's Indoor Cloud League event, as the NSL News reported on February 1st.
