Did You Know...

... that the three 8-way medal winners at Paraclete XP will be back in outdoor action very soon?

ICL Midwest team in February
posted Mar 6th, 2021 - The aftermath of the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021 continues with an update of the Indoor Cloud League activities.

Not only the coaches of the Paraclete XP team managed to post ICL 2021 scores and videos before the indoor championships, as the NSL News reported on March 4th. Skydive Midwest NEXT did the same in February. The complete lineup performed the two Open Class sequences (AAA/AA). Lauren Byrd, Gorka Amian and Greg Oldendick also player-coached the other three February lineups through the additional four ICL sequences.

There were several ICL participants who would later make the trip to Paraclete XP and compete with their respective teams at the indoor championships. NEXT member Greg Oldendick had almost the complete SDC Rhebellion XP lineup for the A Class sequence (Q,K,9), which could be drawn for a AA/Intermediate Class competition, as well. In fact, Block 9 came for the AA/Intermediate Class teams at Paraclete XP together with three random formations in Round 6 (D,P,M,9).

Greg Bush joined his Rhebellion team mates for the ten rounds of their first competition, and they were right away in the race for USIS medals in the AA/Intermediate Class before ending up in 4th place.

Nathan Handegan, Ken Serrine and Brennan Smith had previously performed the RRR sequence for the ICL Midwest team in December, together with Nicole Land. This time they had player-coach Gorka Amian in their lineup for a new RRR sequence. Brennan Smith then came back for the ten AA/Intermediate Class rounds at Paraclete XP (Podunk Hopscotch Mafia).

Katie Healy assisted Lauren Byrd as a player-coach for two participants of the newest ICL Midwest generation of 4-way competitors, Natalie Rodriguez and Rhiannon Lucente. Katie Healy then competed with Eclipse in 4-way AA/Intermediate at Paraclete XP and joined the QRF 1 lineup for the 8-way Open Class competition.

That's where she battled with her ICL player-coaching team mate Lauren Byrd for the bronze medals. The complete Skydive Midwest NEXT lineup competed with Doug Barron's Rhythm 8-way team at Paraclete XP, while Airspeed XP8 member Jeana Billings had put together an all-female QRF lineup for Hell Week.

The indoor 8-way training paid back for QRF 1, as they were able to put some pressure on the more experienced Rhythm lineup.

Rhythm 8 lineup in 2018
Lauren Byrd and Greg Oldendick were already in the Rhythm 8-way team in 2018, long before they would both join Skydive Midwest NEXT. The complete 2020 lineup, still with Chris Haslam in the tail slot, then competed in 8-way with Doug Barron in February last year, and the new 4-way lineup was now back in 8-way action with Gorka Amian.

Matt Accord, Brian Ball and Scott Latinis completed the Rhythm 8-way lineup, and Doug Barron has more plans for the team. Skydive Midwest NEXT will follow up with outdoor competition at the upcoming Shamrock Showdown 2021, and Doug Barron is also bringing the 8-way team to Skydive City.

Matt Accord and Megan George are not available for the 8-way competition at the Shamrock Showdown, where Ben Liston and Doug Hendrix will take the 8-way slots. All Rhythm 8 members also compete in 4-way at the event and will be hunting for the $200 of prize money in the Skins Game between Round 6 and Round 10.

The 8-way competition at the Shamrock Showdown will bring back together the three indoor medal winners of the Paraclete XP indoor competition, Airspeed XP8, Golden Knights and Rhythm 8.
