Did You Know...

... that SDC RhEvolution XP won with a new team indoor record average?

AA/Intermediate Class in 2018: SDC RhEvolution XP
posted Mar 12th, 2021 - The Advanced Class category at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship was officially introduced at the 2020 event. It separated the AAA Class teams the same way as it has happened for many years at USPA's national outdoor championships. Vega XP became the first national indoor champions.

All AAA Class teams were still on the same leaderboard at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2019, a year after SDC RhEvolution XP was born as a team. The 2019 event became RhEvolution's first indoor competition, after attending three outdoor meets of the Midwest Skydiving League and taking the 2nd place on the Intermediate Class leaderboard of the USPA Nationals 2018, while they were not eligible for USPA medals at the team's last AA/Intermediate Class competition.

Gorka Amian, Jason Krumholz and Chris Normandeau came back with new member Greg Oldendick, and Keith Nugent continued on camera. RhEvolution's first competition in the AAA Class was the last Paraclete event without the separate Advanced Class leaderboard.

The new lineup attended once again a few NSL meets before the USPA Nationals 2019, where they had the opportunity to post their scores together with 17 other AAA/Advanced Class teams.

AAA/Open Class in 2019: SDC RhEvolution XP at Paraclete
The lineup changed again at the end of the 2019 season. In fact, only original team member and RhEvolution founder Chris Normandeau came back with new plans, together with team videographer Keith Nugent who has been filming the team at each outdoor competition since August 2018.

Gorka Amian and Greg Oldendick both eventually joined Skydive Midwest NEXT, and they are now posting their scores on the AAA/Open Class leaderboard. Chris Normandeau did not have his new RhEvolution lineup ready in time for the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2020, where the new Advanced Class category was offered for the first time.

The 2020 season became the most challenging one in the history of Formation Skydiving competition, due to the corona virus crisis, and even the USPA Nationals were canceled. However, the new SDC RhEvolution XP lineup, now with Chris Normandeau, Matt Alarif, Alex Bucevicius, Chris Webb and Keith Nugent still on camera, managed to attend two outdoor events, first the NSL Cloud Mondial, followed by the 4-Way FS Skydiving Championships at Skydive Arizona in November.

The new lineup then had the first opportunity to post their scores on a AAA/Advanced Class leaderboard, and they won their first indoor competition together at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021.

SDC RhEvolution XP - Jabberwocky - CT True Blue at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021
New lineup at Skydive Arizona in November 2020
It was obviously neither a very large nor a very strong Advanced Class leaderboard at this year's event. However, the new RhEvolution lineup still finished with a higher indoor average than in February 2019, and the 17.9 average outscored last year's Advanced Class champion, Vega XP, who competed in the AAA/Open Class this year.

The three Advanced Class teams had never shared any leaderboard in the past. JaNette Lefkowitz was player-coaching Jabberwocky to the 2nd place behind SDC RhEvolution XP, who are also one of the Rhythm project teams.

CT True Blue made the same transition from the AA/Intermediate Class dive pool to AAA Class competition that SDC RhEvolution XP had made at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2019. It was exactly the same lineup who had placed 3rd at last year's AA/Intermediate Class competition at Paraclete, and who now came back for a AAA Class competition draw with all six slot-switchers in the ten rounds.

Three current team members (Ethan Beatie, Rhianna Sullivan, Andrew Yin) also turn to outdoor competition at the upcoming Shamrock Showdown 2021, where they join forces with former CT True Blue member Doug Hendrix. He has trained and competed with earlier CT True Blue lineups since 2014, and he was still in the 2019 team. Ben Liston will be guiding CPI Legacy through the ten AAA Class outdoor rounds at Skydive City next weekend.
