Did You Know...

... that Agera FS2022 is now launching complete formations into the flying chamber?

Agera outdoor training in DeLand last year
posted Mar 15th, 2021 - It was exactly a year ago when the young Norwegian team Agera was in DeLand and finished off an outdoor training camp. It was right at the beginning of the corona virus pandemic, which had just arrived in Norway, when the team left the country heading to Florida.

The French delegation had already been ordered to cut short their own training in DeLand, cancel the participation at the Shamrock Showdown, and return to France. Agera staid a little longer to complete the training camp, and there was enough time for NSL Live Talk before the camp was over.

The complete team name was Agera FS2020 at that time, as the final goal of the year was the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020, where they would compete for Norway. Agera knew at that time that they would extend their time period as the national 4-way Open Class team until 2022, and the Norwegian federation confirmed their status and the new plan when they returned home.

The Shamrock Showdown 2020 was eventually canceled, the world meet shortly later. Almost exactly a year after the previous NSL Live Talk with Agera FS2020, the next conversation with Agera FS2022 had to take place online, and the complete lineup was available for an update from Norway.

Norway was able to run a national championship last year, as the NSL News reported on 4 August 2020. Agera lifted their performance level from the 11+ average in 2019 (11.6 - 10.9) to 13.9 in July 2020, while a very experienced Punky Fish lineup (Lise Aune Nansen, Ole Petr Hjelle, Pål Kolbenstvedt, Kjetil Nordin) won the competition.

Agera did not have to worry about the placing, as the Norwegian federation had assigned the team earlier as the national team in 4-way Open for the next world meet. The status as the national 4-way team is a part of the FS2022 project that brings new teams and competitors into the Formation Skydiving environment, and each team member is guiding another 4-way team through a training plan.

The Agera lineup was almost done with a 5-day indoor training camp at the wind-tunnel in Voss, host of the FAI European Indoor Championship in 2018. Outdoor training is still not an option in Norway at this time, and a similar winter camp as last year in DeLand is also out of the question.

However, the outlook for the time of the Agera commitment until at least 2022 is promising, despite the current difficulties. The 2021 season still includes the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020 in August this year, and the FAI Indoor World Cup in 2022 follows just half a year later.

Agera FS2022 in January and February 2021
No outdoor training in Voss at the moment...
Last and not least, the 2022 season then also includes the next outdoor world meet at Skydive Arizona, as FAI/ISC recently changed the rotation of world meets and world cups to adjust to the impact of the corona virus crisis on Formation Skydiving competition. Agera has exciting two years ahead as the national team in 4-way Open.

The team members said that they appreciated the online opportunities that the National Skydiving League has been offering for teams who are looking for any more serious and public competition practice.

In fact, Agera FS2022 performed all 22 rounds of the NSL Cloud Mondial events in January and February. They take advantage of the world-class judging that InTime provides for free, and which will once again be available for the Shamrock Showdown 2021, for the teams live at Skydive City and for additional teams remotely in other parts of the world.

It was even more important for Agera in February, as they have begun to launch the complete first formations of each sequence into the flying chamber. They were only putting together the first formation after entering the flying chamber in January and will now get an evaluation of their new indoor skill. Unfortunately, they have to miss out once again on the Shamrock Showdown, as they are stuck in Norway at the moment, where it is even hard to get to the wind-tunnel when there is serious winter weather...
