Did You Know...

... that current and former Vega XP members met in competition at Paraclete XP?

Vega XP lineup in 2015
posted Mar 26th, 2021 - The NSL News goes back to the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021, while the Shamrock Showdown Cloud option will soon add more scores and videos to the same leaderboard. The French national 8-way team has already completed the first four rounds in Pamiers, and Arizona Airspeed resume with the remainder of the 4-way competition next week.

The previous high-profile indoor event at Paraclete XP included an interesting situation on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard. The NSL News has covered the progression of last year's Advanced Class champion Vega XP to the Open Class indoor leaderboard with several updates.

The new lineup, now with Annie and Ian Drennan, James Hall, André Van Heerden, visited Paraclete XP on a regular basis to train together, under the supervision of coach Niklas Hemlin. However, the complete lineup was only available for the last training weekend before the competition, and coach Niklas Hemlin had to fill open slots at the other training camps.

Vega XP had to put the results of the training camps with Niklas Hemlin together as good as possible and then compete without him, as he had his own team duty at the indoor championship, and all Vega members were available for the competition.

Lightspeed and Vega XP at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021
Vega XP lineup in 2020
Two former Vega XP members were also present at the Paraclete XP meet and decided to put their own team together. Brandon Kashani and Nicholas Walker invited Kirk Verner for player-coaching of Lightspeed, and Shannon Catalano joined the team for the competition.

Nicholas Walker is one of the original Vega members and trained and competed together with Annie and Ian Drennan between 2015 and 2020 when Vega XP won the Advanced Class gold medals at the same event. Brandon Kashani had joined Vega XP a year earlier, and the 2019/2020 lineup attended the U.S. indoor and outdoor championships together.

Brandon Kashani and Nicholas Walker did not come back with Vega XP after the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2020. James Hall and André Van Heerden took their slots, and this year's indoor championship was the first competition for the new lineup.

Brandon Kashani's and Nicholas Walker's Lightspeed, with player-coach Kirk Verner and Shannon Catalano, finished far ahead of their former team on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard.

Lightspeed 8 and Token Male at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021
Vega XP training with Niklas Hemlin
Brandon Kashani and Nicholas Walker both had their own additional 4-way player-coaching teams at the same event. Nicholas Walker guided Florida team ZEUS to their first medal position on the Intermediate Class leaderboard, while Brandon Kashani and his former TSC Cadence team mate Josh Lukes, both USPA Intermediate Class champions of 2018, competed with Baby Cadence in the Rookie Class.

Brandon Kashani and Nicholas Walker also put together a team for the 8-way competition. They joined forces with the complete CT True Blue 4-way lineup, Kaos Theory members Carl Kallgren and Jason McClure completed the lineup.

The Lightspeed 8-way team won the Intermediate Class competition after an exciting battle with another 8-way pick-up team, Carolina Gr8ness Fest RhEvolution, a combination of the complete SDC RhEvolution XP lineup and other 8-way fans, under the supervision of Christy Frikken.

Only one Vega XP member took on a second team engagement at the Paraclete XP meet. New Vega XP member James Hall became the lucky Token Male competitor who was selected by the seven female team mates, the complete lineup of the U.S. national outdoor team in 4-way Women, Aviatrixx, XPG4 members Morgan Womble and Brenn Richards, and Christine Bruchac. Token Male competed in the 8-way Open Class at Paraclete XP.
