posted Mar 27th, 2021 - The 8-way competition of the Shamrock Showdown 2021 continues on the NSL Cloud, as the NSL News pointed out with a recent update. The French national 8-way team is in the middle of their online part at the skydiving center of Pamiers in the south of France. They will probably complete all meet rounds this weekend and then wait until the same judging panel gets back together online. After that, the U.S. teams will try to catch up with their missing rounds.

The Shamrock Showdown outdoor competition connected with the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021 in many ways, even without any international participation this year. In fact, most of the 4-way and 8-way competitors at the Shamrock Showdown attended or met at the indoor event just a few weeks earlier.

Arizona Airspeed, Skydive Midwest NEXT and XPG4 in 4-way, AZXP8 and Rhythm 8 in 8-way were back with the same teams. Only Rhythm 8 had two changes in the lineup at Skydive City.

Seven members of the third 8-way team at the Shamrock Showdown, Sandbaggers, had also attended the Paraclete XP indoor meet in different 4-way and 8-way teams. Michael Paolin and videographer Patrick Fortune joined the outdoor team only for the meet at Skydive City.

Sandbaggers and Just 4 Fun at the Shamrock Showdown 2021

Jamie Caldwell, Suzette Turner, Rhianna Sullivan, Matthew Alarif, Benjie Turner, Andrew Yin and Michael Paolin hired Arizona Airspeed member Christopher Kuhlmann as the player-coach and Patrick Fortune as videographer for the Sandbaggers at the Shamrock Showdown.

Suzette and Benjie Turner had competed with 8-way team QRF 2 at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship, after participating in the 8-way Hell Week. They competed on opposite sides of Jamie Caldwell and Matt Alarif at Paraclete XP, who outscored them with their Carolina Gr8ness Fest in the 8-way Intermediate Class.

Rhianna Sullivan and Andrew Yin won the 8-way Intermediate Class competition with Lightspeed. They also won the 4-way AAA/Advanced Class bronze medals together with CT True Blue.

Then they were back for the outdoor action at the Shamrock Showdown, in 8-way with Sandbaggers, and in 4-way with CPI Legacy, where Rhianna Sullivan switched to the camera slot.

This combination of the three 8-way indoor teams at Paraclete XP completed the three outdoor rounds at Skydive City together.

Jhabberlution - Carolina Gr8ness Fest RhEvolution - QRF 2 at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021

SDC RhEvolution member Matt Alarif already had a very busy meet agenda at the indoor championships, where he competed with his own 4-way team and then with the complete RhEvolution lineup for 8-way team Jhabberlution, with player-coach JaNette Lefkowitz.

All RhEvolution members then even joined a second team for more 8-way action, Carolina Gr8ness Fest, on the 8-way Intermediate Class leaderboard. RhEvolution with Carolina Gr8ness Fest outscored themselves with Jhabberlution, even though both 8-way teams posted their scores on different leaderboards.

Matt Alarif was the only RhEvolution member competing at the Shamrock Showdown, with the Sandbaggers in 8-way, and with Just 4 Fun in 4-way.

Suzette and Benjie Turner met their 8-way player-coach Kirk Verner at the Shamrock Showdown, who had guided QRF 2 to the 8-way bronze medals in the Intermediate Class at Paraclete XP. There they had Sylvain Florand in their lineup, the only Hell Week participant from France this time. The QRF teams usually have a majority of French competitors in their lineups, which was impossible this year, due to the corona virus travel restrictions. Sylvain Florand plans to be back for the 8-way Hell Week in the future, hopefully once again with visitors from France.
