Did You Know...

... that ICL Midwest scored a total of 147 points for the March sequences?

ICL Midwest team in March 2021
posted Apr 5th, 2021 - The previous Indoor Cloud League February update of the ICL Midwest team was a part of the aftermath of the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021 at the same time.

Several ICL participants had posted the six scores for ICL Midwest before making the trip to Paraclete XP for the national indoor championships, including AAA Class team Skydive Midwest NEXT, who are organizing the Indoor Cloud League events.

NEXT have been performing the two Open Class sequences (AAA/AA) for the ICL Midwest team month by month while player-coaching most of the other lineups. They were back in March for the two new sequences and with a complete set of scores and videos. Three new ICL participants were in the four ICL Midwest lineups who posted the highscores for the month of March.

The total of 147 points last month almost matched the record number of 149 that the ICL Midwest team scored in October last year. It is the highest total so far for the running 2021 season, after the winning total of 133 in February. Skydive Midwest NEXT had two faster sequences in March and scored higher, while team member Megan George guided a strong RRR lineup (Stanley Bukala, Angie Fallon, Crystal Prom) to the highest March score, the 30-pointer for the RRR sequence with three random formations.

This time, the March competition of the Indoor Cloud League came together with the Shamrock Showdown 2021, where Skydive Midwest NEXT completed four outdoor rounds successfully. They battled with XPG4 for the 4-way spot behind Arizona Airspeed on the AAA Class leaderboard and won by two points. This competition will hopefully still be completed in April with the missing rounds.

Lauren Byrd, Gorka Amian and Greg Oldendick also competed with Rhythm 8 at Skydive City, while NEXT videographer Elliot Byrd was filming Airspeed XP8.

The ICL Midwest team completed the March sequences of the Indoor Cloud League once again at iFLY Rosemont. NEXT member and ICL organizer Lauren Byrd said that she enjoys watching the progression of the participating teams and competitors.

SDC Rhebellion XP is one of the examples who met at ICL Midwest events and then formed the team. Rhebellion were in contention for AA/Intermediate Class medals at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021 and finished 4th at their first competition.

Three Rhebellion members (Aga Horoszko, Kelsey Strock, Eric Bambach) had posted the A Class highscore for the ICL Midwest team in February, and they were back with player-coach Gorka Amian in March.

They had very strong internal competition this time. Megan George guided her lineup (Angie Fallon, Crystal Prom, Stanley Bukala) to the highscores for the A and RRR sequences. Stanley Bukala trained and competed with MWSL team SDMW eXtreme between 2014 and 2016. Angie Fallon joined the ICL Midwest team in August 2020, and Crystal Prom attended her first Indoor Cloud League event.

SDC Rhebellion XP did not make it onto the internal ICL Midwest leaderboard last month, however, they will surely be back with more highscores in the near future. The complete lineup will most likely be one of the medal contenders at this year's USPA Nationals, as well.

In the meantime, Angie Fallon, Crystal Prom and Stanley Bukala could also continue, and it would be no surprise to see a new 4-way team rise out of the ICL Midwest events.
