Did You Know...

... that Aviatrixx members Jill Stephenson and Christy West outscored themselves in 8-way?

First competition in June 2019: Aviatrixx
posted Apr 12th, 2021 - All reigning U.S. indoor and outdoor champions and national teams were competing at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship this year. There was no split in 8-way, where AZXP8 won the USPA outdoor title in 2019, the indoor title in February 2020, and then defended it successfully at this year's indoor championship.

It was different in 4-way Open and 4-way Women, where four different teams are currently representing the U.S. indoor and outdoor delegations. SDC Rhythm XP are still the reigning USPA outdoor champions and will compete for the United States at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020 this August.

Arizona Airspeed won the 4-way indoor title last year at Paraclete XP and defended it successfully in February this year. Airspeed will compete for the United States at the next indoor world meet and/or world cup.

It is a similar situation in 4-way Women, where Aviatrixx won the qualification as the U.S. national team in this FAI/ISC category at the USPA Nationals 2019. XPG4 was the best U.S. team in 4-way Women at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2019 and won bronze medals for the United States at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019. However, they did not compete at the USPA Nationals the same year, and Aviatrixx qualified as the national outdoor team.

World meet qualification at the USPA Nationals 2019
XPG4 were back with new lineups for indoor and outdoor competition in 2020 and 2021 and won the indoor titles consecutively.

XPG4 and Aviatrixx have competed directly only at indoor events so far and have never met yet at an outdoor competition.

XPG4 posted outdoor scores at the NSL Cloud Mondial 2020, at the 4-Way FS Skydiving Championships 2020 , and at the Shamrock Showdown 2021, Aviatrix at Skydive Spaceland Houston's Pre-Nationals in September 2020. The USPA Nationals 2020 were canceled, and Aviatrixx retained the USPA outdoor status as the national team.

Both teams were formed at about the same time in 2019 and posted scores on the same leaderboards at the Paraclete XP indoor championships in 2020 and 2021. Aviatrixx attended four outdoor and two indoor meets ever since, XPG4 four indoor and three outdoor.

Aviatrixx still launched their 2021 competition season with the U.S. indoor championship, even though their focus will be on outdoor competition this year as the national team in 4-way Women for the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020.

Aviatrixx could not really expect to give XPG4 a serious indoor battle in 4-way Women. XPG4 were back with three members of the 2019 FAI bronze-medal team (Jeana Billings, Michelle Karamon, Morgan Womble) and new member Brenn Richards. XPG4 won their 3rd U.S. indoor title, and Aviatrixx collected more competition experiences for the same lineup that started competing in June 2019.

Aviatrixx still had enough direct opponents on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard for a serious test. The Air Force team with former Airspeed member Andy Honigbaum in the lineup were a good target throughout the 10-round meet, while reigning Advanced Class champion of 2020, Vega XP, kept pushing from behind.

The complete Aviatrixx lineup then joined forces with XPG4 members and 4-way opponents Brenn Richards and Morgan Womble, plus Christine Bruchac and James Hall for a pickup team on the 8-way Open Class leaderboard, Token Male.

Jill Stephenson and Christy West also trained with QRF 1 during 8-way Hell Week and were well prepared for the competition with their second 8-way lineup. They competed against themselves and their Aviatrixx team mates in Token Make, and QRF 1 won by 16 points. Token Male stole the winning scores for single rounds twice in this 8-way duel.
