Did You Know...

... that four Texas teams posted scores on the A Class leaderboard?

posted Apr 27th, 2021 - The official judging of the first four Shamrock Showdown Cloud rounds by Russia's Tanay 8-way team will be delayed until the weekend. The South African national championships are currently taking place as a live event, and the InTime judging panel will only be able to resume with the Shamrock Showdown Cloud once the event is over.

In the meantime, the Texas Skydiving League has launched the 2021 season with another live event at Skydive San Marcos. The TSL 2021 season begins much earlier than last year when the three hosts (San Marcos - Houston - Dallas) restarted in August after the pandemic break.

Once again, TSL Director Scott Latinis called out to his 4-way community in Texas, and eleven teams followed his invitation to the season opener at Spaceland San Marcos. Seven teams had attended the restart event in August 2020 at the same location.

Scott Latinis himself had started his own 2021 season even much earlier. He is a member of the Rhythm 8-way team and competed first at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship in February, then followed up with four Rhythm 8-way outdoor rounds at the Shamrock Showdown in March. He also joined the Quiet Riot 4-way team at Skydive City and battled with CPI Legacy throughout the four completed rounds.

Scott Latinis was back in 4-way outdoor action last weekend in San Marcos, where he organized the event and player-coached Bipole(r) Bus through the 6-round competition. His 4-way team mates have competed at other TSL meets in the past.

Bipole(r) Bus could not keep up with Spaceland Toxic, the winner in the AA/Intermediate Class, who came back with the same lineup and exactly on the same performance and scoring level as at the previous TSL meet in November 2020.

Spaceland Toxic's 11.2 average also matches exactly the 10-round finish at the USPA Nationals 2019, where the same lineup ended up in 4th place, three points behind the silver medals. It is a promising start into Toxic's 2021 season and the team's next pursuit of USPA medals in the AA/Intermediate Class.

The TSL season opener is also a promising start for the A Class competition at this year's USPA Nationals. The Texas Skydiving League introduced the NSL category in September 2011, and the record number of four teams on the TSL leaderboard last weekend indicates that teams from Texas have their eyes on the first sets of medals in the new USPA test category, as well.
