Did You Know...

... that Flyspot's 4-way Champions League has extended the time-frame for the meets?

FAI Indoor World Cup 2016 at Flyspot: NMP PCH HayaBusa
posted Apr 28th, 2021 - The Flyspot wind-tunnel in Warsaw, Poland, was built in 2014, and the Polish Indoor Open 2014 became the grand opening event. Flyspot Warsaw established the Polish Indoor Open as an annual wind-tunnel competition and then hosted the FAI Indoor World Cup in 2016.

Next step was the introduction of the Flyspot Liga in 2017, with regular live competitions for Polish 4-way teams and any visitors. The Flyspot Liga offered all four NSL categories (AAA - AA - A - RRR) at the indoor meets, and the Polish teams used them well to move up gradually from the beginner level to AAA Class competition.

The NSL News had introduced the latest newcomers on the AAA Class leaderboard with the Flyspot Liga update on 10 November 2020. MAD Team, Flyspot One2Three and Flyspot Omega all together eventually joined the Polish national 4-way indoor and outdoor team Flyspot Sky4Four on the AAA leaderboards in November and December 2020.

The earlier Flyspot Liga meets and the annual Polish Indoor Open were live events like all other 4-way indoor and outdoor competitions within or outside of the NSL Network. However, the World Tunnel League part of the NSL Network eventually extended the time-frame for running the live meets to one month, which offered the opportunity for teams to use the same competition draw and compare scores on the same leaderboards.

Flyspot Sky4Four (AAA) - Crazy Donut (AA) - Ladies Power (A) at the March/April meet of the Flyspot Liga
Rookie Class in 2019: Crazy Donut
The NSL format with an extended time-frame of a month to accommodate more teams had been in place for a while when the corona virus crisis changed the world and Formation Skydiving indoor and outdoor competition significantly in many ways.

The NSL began to apply the same format for any competition, including the high-profile NSL Cloud Mondial 2020, when the gathering of people at the same locations and the same time became increasingly difficult or impossible. The well-known online format allowed participating teams to perform the same competition draw on their own terms within the same time-frame.

The Flyspot Liga began to apply the same format in October 2020 when the time-frame for last year's 4-way Champions League rounds was extended to two weeks (October 16th - November 2nd). The next Flyspot competitions gave the teams three weeks for the ten rounds in November and December.

Finally, the currently running Flyspot Liga indoor competition allows the Polish 4-way teams to use almost two months (March 8th - April 30th) to get their ten rounds completed, judged and the scores posted, and the same format will be applied for the next meet (April 19th - June 6th). The teams can perform the meet rounds at any of the three Flyspot locations (Warsaw, Katowice, Wroclaw). The other two 2021 meets in October and November might be live meets again, or they could also turn into online events, if necessary.

Rookie Class winner DARK Team
A Class in 2020: Crazy Donut
The currently applied format for Flyspot's 4-way Champions League created record participation for the March/April event. A total of 17 teams competed in the four NSL categories, and the Rookie Class won the competition for the highest number of teams on the leaderboard.

The A Class, which will be introduced as a test event at the USPA Nationals this year, has also been a very popular competition category in Poland. The combination of six A and seven RRR teams is a significantly higher number compared to any previous Flyspot leaderboards.

The Rookie Class features a new high-scoring DARK Team who seem to have the potential to follow the path of MAD Team and Flyspot Omega. Both current AAA teams started in the Rookie Class on a high performance and scoring level.

Crazy Donut have been on the same path for a while. The Rookie Class team of 2019 spent 2020 in the A Class and posted their first AA scores this month. No other Polish teams competed in the same category that MAD Team, Flyspot Omega and Flyspot One2Three have left behind by now. The Czech 4-way Junior teams have visited Poland several times to compete in the AA Class. However, only the Moravian Flyers visited this time for the Rookie Class competition. The Czech Republic is still facing severe pandemic restrictions.
