Eleven teams, spread across all four NSL divisions, were in attendance. This was the highest participation at any TSL meet since 2015.
The days prior to the meet saw rain, rain, and more rain. Yet, Saturday was beautiful as if Mother Nature decided that she would reward such a great attendance with almost perfect skydiving weather.
The competitor briefing started with the packing crew letting the jumpers know the plan for getting things done. Packers were assigned to teams, jumpers were told where to drop their rigs. Everyone was happy. The packers had to split their time between the competitors and tandem rigs. Because the dropzone's student side is growing by leaps and bounds, also boosted by Scott Latinis' work, a couple of extended breaks were worked into the meet schedule to ensure everyone got in the air.

Next, Scott Latinis introduced chief judge Elizabeth Pitts, explained how the meet would be run, and related to USPA's Skydivers Competition Manual a few times. DZ manager Thomas Hughes, Arizona Airspeed 4-way world champion of 2012, then provided the safety briefing and pilot briefing, while the videographers went with the chief judge to discuss downloading the competition videos. The draw was handed out, and the first load was put on a call.
Scott Latinis did not have much work after that and could enjoy his own competition with Bipole(r) Bus: "The well-oiled Spaceland San Marcos machine then did that thing that they do so well – run like a well-oiled machine!"
At the end of the 6-round meet, with plenty of daylight left, the award ceremony concluded the event.

"The next Texas Skydiving League meet is at Spaceland Houston on the July 24-25 weekend. It is the "Pre-Nationals". Randy Connell is the chief judge. Rumor has it that Jim Rees will be in attendance, as well. The judges will use the Omniskore scoring system. Events will be 4-way FS, 8-way FS and 2-way MFS.
"If you are training for the USPA Nationals, this meet will provide a perfect opportunity to see what the judges think of your team's ability to 'clearly present the start of working time, correct scoring formations, inters, and total separations to the videographers and the judges.' (SCM 9.7.1.5). Better to find out in July than in October in Eloy. The judges will be available at the end of the day to cuss and discuss the scoring.
