Did You Know...

... that Demo McDonnell and Rich Delgado have joined forces for Spaceland Toxic?

Team America at SkyQuest 2005
posted May 17th, 2021 - John "Demo" McDonnell's 4-way career story goes far back in the NSL News records. He is currently running the Spaceland Toxic 4-way project that he launched in 2012. He is still a member of the AA/Intermediate Class lineup, and Toxic won the most recent AA Class competition with eight teams from four different NSL league regions in the United States.

His name appeared for the first time in the NSL News records when Team America competed for the Texas Skydiving League at the NSL Championship event of SkyQuest 2005. Team America had attended four meets of the TSL Rookie Class in 2005 before traveling to Fantasy of Flight in Florida, where the NSL Championship was a part of the multi-discipline SkyQuest show.

The USPA Nationals do not include the Rookie Class, and Team America used the opportunity in Florida to finish off their first 4-way season.

Team America moved up into the AA/Intermediate Class in 2006 and attended once again four meets of the Texas Skydiving League, then won the TSL Championship in September. However, they neither made the trip to SkyQuest 2006 nor competed at the USPA Nationals, and Team America did not return in 2007.

Spaceland Toxic lineup in 2019
Demo McDonnell continued with different teams randomly before launching the Toxic project in 2012. The first lineup spent a year in the Rookie Class before entering the AA/Intermediate Class in 2013. There were several changes of the Toxic lineups, and the current one (Angela Scoggins, Rich Delgado, Randy Morgan, Demo McDonnell, Chad Hall on camera) is a top contender in the AA/Intermediate Class eight years later.

Rich Delgado was already competing in the AA/Intermediate Class when Demo McDonnell started Team America in the Rookie Class. Spaceland Avalanche competed at the USPA Nationals 2005 when Team America attended the NSL Championship at SkyQuest 2005.

15 years after Demo McDonnell and Rich Delgado competed with different teams in the Texas Skydiving League they finally became team mates in 2020, and they seem to have a realistic chance to win their first USPA 4-way medals together this year.

The previous Spaceland Toxic lineup (Demo McDonnell, Randy Morgan, Joshua Schirard, Devon Shows, Chad Hall on camera) came very close at the USPA Nationals 2019, closer than ever before.

Current Spaceland Toxic lineup in 2020
Earlier Toxic lineups had finished between 12th and 24th place in 2013 - 2015. The 6th place in 2017 moved Toxic up into the Top 10 for the first time, where they finished as well a year later (9th). Then the 2019 lineup missed the 2nd place and USPA silver medals by only three points.

The current lineup is back up to the same level where Toxic was at the USPA Nationals in 2019 (11.2) and has plenty of time and meet opportunities to increase the scoring level. Texas Skydiving League director Scott Latinis has scheduled two more meets before it's time for the USPA Nationals 2021.

Scott Latinis was already competing in the 4-way AAA/Open Class competition when Demo McDonnell and Rich Delgado had their first teams on NSL leaderboards in 2005. He was a member of Dallas Thunder in 2004 and Elsinore GT in 2003.

He is still not missing a 4-way meet. He was with Space Force BTR at the USPA Nationals 2019. Then he was most recently a part of the Shamrock Showdown 2021 in 4-way (Quiet Riot) and in 8-way (Rhythm 8). He will surely be at the USPA Nationals this year, where he may watch Spaceland Toxic compete for medals...
