Did You Know...

... that Hurricane Factory and iFLY Tampa may be back on the ICL leaderboard for May?

Reopened: Hurricane Factory in Prague
posted May 19th, 2021 - Good news came from the Czech Republic this week. Jan Klapka informed the NSL News that the Hurricane Factory in Prague has reopened, and the Czech 4-way teams can resume their indoor action. He hopes that there will not be a new lockdown any time soon. There will be Czech scores and videos at least on the May leaderboard.

The 2020 season of the Indoor Cloud League was already difficult enough, due to the implications of the corona virus crisis. There was not one single team with scores for each month of the year. However, the Hurricane Factory team had collected enough ICL points (1202) in the nine month of ICL activities to defend the top position successfully at the end of the year.

The 2020 leaderboard served more or less only information purposes, as the conditions were different almost at each location of the participating wind-tunnels. The situation became even worse in the Czech Republic after a short comeback in December. Jan Klapka has not been able to run any events this year so far, and there are no Czech scores or videos at all on the 2021 leaderboard.

Two of the U.S. teams (Paraclete XP - iFLY Dallas) submitted scores and videos for each month in 2021, and ICL Midwest missed only the January competition. iFLY Tampa started with scores for January, February and March before missing the April competition.

No break in 2021: Paraclete XP's ICL team
The Hurricane Factory, and all other previously participating ICL teams, have no scoring numbers on the 2021 leaderboard at all. Without any major breakdowns, or lockdowns, Florida's ICL team and the Hurricane Factory will be back with scores and videos this month.

The special circumstances of the corona virus crisis created an exemption that the Indoor Cloud League announced last year. All teams have the opportunity to fill the empty boxes on the leaderboards retroactively for the ICL 2020 season, and for this year, as well.

The exemption was not used much at all last year, as it is naturally difficult for recreational teams and competitors to schedule enough tunnel time. It is challenging enough to accommodate all ICL sequences one way or another, and making up for earlier months is even more difficult. However, the option is still there, and the May submissions by Hurricane Factory and iFLY Tampa will show if there was enough extra time to perform the missing sequences.
