Did You Know...

... that the Hurricane Factory is back on the Indoor Cloud League leaderboard?

Regular announcement in Prague in 2020/2021
posted Jun 4th, 2021 - The recent Indoor Cloud League update on May 19th mentioned that the Czech Republic's Hurricane Factory in Prague is opening doors again for 4-way indoor training and other activities.

Organizer Jan Klapka was hopeful that there would be at least enough time to perform the May sequences before the situation could change once again. The corona virus crisis had made it difficult before to predict a schedule for wind-tunnel training in face of the pandemic rules and regulations.

Jan Klapka and his Czech 4-way teams eventually succeeded in completing the whole set of ICL May sequences at the Hurricane Factory, even though his group of teams was still smaller compared to events under normal circumstances and before the pandemic.

The same article covered the modified ICL "catch-up rules" that Jan Klapka could not apply for missing scores and videos of earlier months. Florida's ICL team added some scores for the month of April retroactively and under the exemption rule, even though the new iFLY rules for training at their wind-tunnels have made it much more difficult at any iFLY facilities to participate.

Two highscores in May: Rusalky
The Hurricane Factory team in Prague had not missed a month of Indoor Cloud League competition since June 2013 when Jan Klapka and his Czech 4-way teams and competitors joined the U.S. indoor teams in Orlando, Seattle and New Hampshire. This flawless streak came to an end when the Hurricane Factory was closed temporarily in April 2020.

The Hurricane Factory was reopened a month later and then closed again in October and November 2020. The Czech teams had a short window in December before a new lock-down between January and April this year. The comeback last month brings back the longest-standing ICL team to Indoor Cloud League competition.

It was still a slow restart for Jan Klapka, even though eight teams competed for the highest scores in each of the six categories. Jan Klapka had a total of 22 Czech 4-way teams on his list who performed the Indoor Cloud League sequences regularly in 2019, and even still 14 last year. It was unusual, or may have never happened, that less than ten teams took on the six sequences at any time.

He had eight teams for his comeback in May, and three of them generated the total of 118 points.

Training under pandemic conditions in Prague: HF Flying Circus
The Czech 4-way junior teams were once again the backbone for the Hurricane Factory, and they contributed four of the six highscores. HF Flying Circus were one of the two 4-way senior teams last month and added the scores for the two 4-way Open Class sequences (AAA/AA).

HF Flying Circus plan to compete at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2021 if the circumstances of the pandemic allow the Czech team to travel to Russia. The reigning national indoor and outdoor champions have not competed yet at an outdoor world meet.

The current lineup attended the FAI Indoor World Cup 2018, the team's first international FAI event, just a few weeks after the outdoor world meet in Australia 2018. Then they followed up with the 10th place at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019.

The FAI Tanay Mondial 2020 in August this year would become a very special event for HF Flying Circus after the first international competition experiences at the indoor events.
