posted Jul 16th, 2021 - The recent updates from Denmark included a brief overview of Vibeke Birk Tidemann's 4-way competition career. The story on July 9th explained that the name of her first team in the Danish 4-way project, Sequence, was back on the leaderboard for the winning lineup at the national championships a few weeks ago.

The first Sequence of 2007 was not a winning team in Denmark, even though it was a part of the 4-way project. The DaneZ had dominated 4-way competition in Denmark for several years, and the new national team of 2007, Danish Blaze, had been selected to represent the country at the next world meet in Maubeuge, France.

Vibeke Birk Tidemann now won her first Danish 4-way title 15 years after her first visit at the Shamrock Showdown 2006. She was back in DeLand a year later for a training camp of the Danish 4-way project that she had joined. Sequence did not compete at the Shamrock Showdown 2007. Only the new national team, Danish Blaze, posted their first scoring numbers at the event at the end of the training camp.

The NSL News invited Vibeke Birk and Torben Tiedemann for an interview in 2007. Torben Tiedemann, her future husband, was a member of the new national 4-way team, and together they provided insights of the Danish 4-way project.

Torben Tiedemann had prepared his step up into the national 4-way team of 2007 and 2008, Danish Blaze, with his first year of training and competition with the previous B-Team, Vitesse. He explained his own efforts and the investment into the team project during the interview.

The members of the project were selected by former members of the previous national team, the DaneZ, together with project coach Solly Williams. The DaneZ had competed for Denmark at the world meets in 2004 and 2006, and they had decided to take a break from the obligations of a national team.

The DaneZ still competed at the national championship and won in 2007, 2008 and 2009 where they defeated the official national teams, first Danish Blaze in 2007 and 2008, then Voluntas in 2009. However, they still stayed away from the international representation at the world meets in Maubeuge 2008 and Menzelinsk 2010, where the official national teams competed for Denmark, Danish Blaze followed by Voluntas.

As a result of the DaneZ' persistence, Torben Tiedemann actually never won the national 4-way title, even though he competed with Danish Blaze at the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2008.

Vibeke Birk and Torben Tiedemann eventually ended up together in the same Sequence lineup of 2009 and 2010. That's when the Sequence story seemed to be over, while Vibeke Birk and Torben Tiedemann tied their lives even closer by getting married.

Vibeke Birk Tidemann then joined a Danish 4-way Women team in 2011 (Danish Divas) and helped out for the VAF Warriors at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2016. The Tiedemanns were also back together in action with JustinTime in 2018.

Back in 2007, Vibeke Birk Tidemann alone was planning to make it to the national 4-way team at some point in time. She had a 3-year plan to make it happen. Now she has accomplished this goal a few years later, and she won the national 4-way title that her husband is still missing.

Torben Tiedemann had the experience of a world meet ahead of his wife. Vibeke Birk will now catch up if the new Sequence lineup continue and compete for Denmark in Eloy 2022...
