Did You Know...

... that British Army's Volt4ge were well prepared for the AA Class competition?

8-way plan: Chimeros
posted Sep 3rd, 2021 - After a short break due to website troubles, the NSL News continues with the aftermath of the 4-way competition at the UK Nationals 2021, while the British 8-way teams are ready for their action a week later.

British national 8-way team MicroClim8 will try to defend their national title and qualify for the next world meet in Eloy 2022. They were supposed to compete for the British delegation at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020 and missed the event when the British Skydiving federation withdrew from participating due to the corona virus implications.

There has not really been any serious 8-way opposition for MicroClim8 in Great Britain since the 8-way project was launched a decade ago. Different MicroClim8 lineups have represented Great Britain at the last three world meets (2014 - 2016 - 2018) and would have been in Tanay in August, as well.

However, two of the British 4-way top teams have joined forces to make it more challenging for MicroClim8 and let them not walk away again with the next 8-way title too easily this weekend. At least the team logo of the Chimera/Eros combination indicates that there is a plan.

Two of the British AA Class teams had a serious battle for the top spot, as well. The 4-way point difference at the end of the 8-round competition did not require a jump-off or tie-breaking finish as it was necessary on the AAA Class leaderboard between NFTO and Chimera. However, British Army team Volt4ge had to put some work in for their AA Class title.

It was the second consecutive 4-way title for the British Army team. A slightly different lineup, with three of the 2019 members, had to move up into the AA Class after winning the A Class competition in August 2019 with a 10.1 average over 12 other British teams in the same category.

The 2019 season was Volt4ge's second year in the A Class, which they concluded with a major contribution to the account of the British delegation at the ESL Championship 2019.

The 2021 lineup prepared their approach to the next championship title in the AA Class carefully by attending both 2021 meets of the UK Skydiving League. They increased their scoring level at each event until they ended up at exactly the same scoring level as in the A Class of 2019. Volt4ge was the only British AA Class team at the UKSL meets and used the competition experiences successfully at the national championships.
