Did You Know...

... that Amnesya defended the Italian 4-way title with a Sinapsi center?

AAA Class awards at the Italian Nationals 2017
posted Sep 28th, 2021 - The Italian Outdoor Nationals featured once again the AAA Class duel between Amnesya and eX3MO, which has been happening every year since Amnesya became a serious opponent for the most experienced Italian 4-way team, eX3MO.

Giuseppe Cossu launched the Amnesya team project with Antonio Nardelli, Alessandro Romeo and Daniele Scandola in the lineup in 2015 and won the AA Class at their first national championships. Amnesya moved up into the AAA Class a year later, and the 2017 lineup (Chiara Brunetti, Giuseppe Cossu, Antonio Delogu, Michele Silvi) became the first serious challenger for eX3MO.

The Italian Nationals 2017 became the tightest battle between the two teams, with a 1-point advantage for eX3MO after ten rounds, before Amnesya took the 4-way top spot in Italy from eX3MO in 2018.

Amnesya have maintained the top position ever since, even though the lineup changed a few times. Michele Silvi left the team after the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2018 and moved to Belgium to join NMP PCH HayaBusa and become a 4-way world champion. Only his former team mate Chiara Brunetti is still in the current lineup and won her next Italian 4-way title. This time she had 2019 and 2020 members Alessandro Anderlucci, Livio Piccolo and videographer Sante Valentini back back in the lineup, and Luca Marchioro replaced team founder Giuseppe Cossu.

Amnesya - eX3MO at the Italian Outdoor Nationals 2017
Livio Piccolo and Luca Marchioro with Sinapsi PD at the FAI World Meet 2006
Luca Marchioro had filled the inside center slot for Amnesya once before, as the NSL News reported on 31 August 2018. The same story pointed out that Luca Marchioro is a former member of the Sinapsi PD lineup and won a bronze medal at the FAI World Meet 2006.

This month's event was even more special, as Luca Marchioro had a reunion with his Sinapsi team mate Livio Piccolo, who had joined Amnesya when Michele Silvi moved to Belgium. Livio Piccolo won his next three Italian national championship titles in 2019, 2020 and 2021, this year together with his Sinapsi team mate Luca Marchioro.

Former Amnesya and current HayaBusa member Michele Silvi has been coaching eX3MO since he left his Italian champion team of 2017 and 2018. Four of the current eX3MO members (Federico Angelotti, Stefano Rossi, Placido Udine, videographer Massimo Fiorini) were in the lineup that defeated Amnesya with Michele Silvi by a single point (198 - 197) in 2017.

Marco Arrigo, Livio Piccolo's and Luca Marchioro's original Sinapsi team mate of 2000 - 2004, was in the eX3MO lineup that won the team's last Italian 4-way title in 2017. He continued with eX3MO for another year, and Amnesya finally won in 2018, this time by four points (186 - 182).

Amnesya - eX3MO at the Italian Outdoor Nationals 2021

Stefano Rossi, Placido Udine, Federico Angelotti and Massimo Fiorini (Video) of eX3MO's 2017 and 2018 lineups are still training and competing together and had their next 4-way duel with Amnesya's new lineup. Fabio Lorenzetti had replaced Marco Arrigo in 2019 and finished twice not too far behind Amnesya in 2019 and 2020.

Stefano Rossi, Placido Udine, Federico Angelotti and Massimo Fiorini now came back with a new team member, Giovanni Carne. He used to train and compete with Energy Cumiana between 2013 and 2016. Energy Cumiana was eX3MO's strongest opponent before Amnesya began to challenge the Italian top teams.

In fact, Giovanni Carne knew his eX3MO team mates Federico Angelotti and Stefano Rossi from his 4-way times with Energy Cumiana, where they trained and competed together until Federico Angelotti and Stefano Rossi joined eX3MO in 2017. The new eX3MO lineup is a reunion for the former Energy members.

The latest eX3MO lineup could not get close to Amnesya yet. The highly experienced Sinapsi center with Livio Piccolo (Outside Center) and Luca Marchioro (Inside Center), plus the well trained Chiara Brunetti (Point) and Alessandro Anderlucci (Tail) had no problem defending their title successfully. The next duel will probably happen next month at the Italian indoor championships.
