Did You Know...

... that AZXPGK split up for the 10-way speed competition?

AZXPGK 16-way lineup
posted Oct 29th, 2021 - The 16-way competition at the USPA Nationals 2021 turned out to be the walk in the park for the AZXPGK combination of former and reigning world champions. There was actually an additional 4-way world champion of Dubai 2012 in the 16-way lineup.

Josh Hall, who operates Skydive Elsinore and the Southern California Skydiving League, rotated through the 16-way slots of the AZXPGK lineup with 17 members. He won his 4-way world championship title together with Niklas Hemlin and Airspeed's 2012 team (Thomas Hughes, Mark Kirkby, Bill Schmitz on camera).

The upcoming 10-way competition has to break up the AZXPGK lineup back into their original teams. Arizona Airspeed are the defending 10-way champions, and the Golden Knights will probably challenge them as they did at the USPA Nationals 2019.

Arizona Airspeed's 10-way lineup is almost identical with the roster of the 11 competitors who won the USPA titles in 8-way Open (Airspeed XP8), 4-way Open (Arizona Airspeed), 4-way Women (XPG4). Only XPG4 member Morgan Womble has already left Skydive Arizona. Airspeed's 10-way lineup could turn the triple-gold sweep in the traditional Formation Skydiving events into a total sweep of all five FS events.

The Airspeed 10-way lineup features once again a reunion of Ranch 2nd Generation (R2G), this time in an even smaller format. Jeana Billings, Brenn Richards, Michelle Karamon, Chris Kuhlmann and Joey Marshall had their first reunion in the AZXPGK 16-way lineup and will continue together in Airspeed's 10-way team.

In fact, the five R2G members of the past now make up one half of the 10-way team. It is a perfect combination of talent and experience, as Kirk Verner, Brian Krause, John D'Annunzio, Niklas Hemlin and Mikhail Markine bring in a wealth of knowledge and expertise.

However, the 10-way Speed competition is a different beast, and there were other teams in the past who were able to place ahead of the 4-way and 8-way experts. The Golden Knights and other 10-way teams will try to keep Arizona Airspeed from finishing with the ultimate FS sweep.

R2G's team videographer Kamuran "Sonic" Bayrasli once again provided the NSL News with footage of the team's past, this time the Ranch's award-winning video of R2G's 2015 season. Only Brenn Richards, Christopher Kuhlmann and Joey Marshall were in the 2015 lineup, and Dean Van Tassell completed the lineup by then.
