posted Oct 31st, 2021 - Formation Skydiving competition continued in other parts of the world, while the USPA Nationals caught all of the NSL News attention. The aftermath of the U.S. event will continue, of course, including new NSL Live Talk with Arizona Airspeed.

The Italian Indoor Nationals took place on the first weekend of the USPA Nationals, and these two events even had an indirect and very interesting connection. The national indoor and outdoor championships were separated by only four weeks this year. The Outdoor Nationals were completed at the end of September, and the Italian 4-way teams had four weeks to transition to indoor training and competition.

Amnesya defended the outdoor title successfully, as the NSL News reported on September 28th. The same lineup now followed up with the indoor title, which could be expected after the easy outdoor victory over eX3MO.

In fact, the new Amnesya lineup, with former Sinapsi PD members Livio Piccolo and Luca Marchioro in the center slots, have almost arrived at the scoring and performance level where Amnesya were before Michele Silvi left the team to join the Belgian military services and the 4-way world champions of NMP PCH HayaBusa. The 27.1 average was the first indoor result for the current lineup. Amnesya had attended their last indoor competition, the Italian championships, in June 2019.

Amnesya - eX3MO at the Italian Outdoor Nationals 2021

eX3MO were once again the strongest opponent for Amnesya and finished with the team's second highest indoor average in the team history. The point difference to Amnesya was actually smaller at the indoor competition (15 points) compared to the outdoor meet (31 points) a month earlier, which is unusual.

The reason for the closer finish could be a personnel change that happened in the last minute before the start of the indoor competition. Giovanni Carne, eX3MO's regular Point, had to step back, and his team had a capable substitute available.

NMP PCH HayaBusa's new inside center, Michele Silvi, was visiting his original homeland, where he has been helping eX3MO with coaching and advice. He switched back from his inside center slot for HayaBusa and filled the point slot for eX3MO.

eX3MO had to compete as a guest team with HayaBusa member Michele Silvi in the lineup, however, the 25.6 average was probably a great compensation for missing any Italian championship medals. The complete HayaBusa lineup was probably studying the Arizona Airspeed performance carefully, while Michele Silvi competed with eX3MO as a guest team in Italy. That's where the dots connected indirectly on both sides...
