Did You Know...

... that four Czech 4-way teams are on a new field trip to Poland?

Jan Klapka with Bad Boys in October 2011
posted Nov 19th, 2021 - The Czech 4-way teams have been back in Indoor Cloud League action since May and have not missed a month since the restart. The Czech ICL delegation consisted mostly of 4-way junior teams, as the NSL News pointed out several times.

Czech ICL and WTL organizer Jan Klapka then informed the NSL News that the Czech Tunnel League would launch the winter season timely and without any changes in November, as he has done since joining the World Tunnel League ten years ago, in October 2011.

Six teams competed at the Hurricane Factory at the inaugural event, including Jan Klapka's own 4-way team, the Bad Boys. None of the Czech teams at that time was a junior lineup, while the youngest 4-way generations in the Czech Republic are now dominating the current leaderboards.

It took four more years until the first lineups of Jan Klapka's 4-way junior project posted their first scores at the beginning of the 2015/2016 winter season in September. The HF Flies, with current HF Cubs member Adéla Veselá, and the HF Cubs, with current HF Cubs members Sabina Cioleková and Viktorie Nováková, were the first 4-way junior teams.

HF Zeleny/Cubs in 2015
The restart of the Czech Indoor Cloud League team in May this year was heavily carried by the 4-way junior teams, who have only the indoor option available, while the senior teams usually jump from planes in the summer. However, the 4-way junior project has generated so many new competitors that the former and current juniors now dominate each indoor event in the Czech Republic.

The same six 4-way junior teams who generated the total of 144 Indoor Cloud League points in October, and the HF Cubs, now a 4-way senior team, were back for the winter season opener of the Czech Tunnel League earlier this month.

Jan Klapka said that he had 14 teams lined up for the first indoor meet this year. It turned out that the total number of Czech teams at the Hurricane Factory was even higher. The 15 teams at the November meet reflect new record participation at the start of the Czech winter season.

Most of the team names are well known by now, especially in the 4-way junior world. New AA Class senior team Elezemky is a 2-2 combination of Elements (Martina Bednárová, Magdaléna Hejná) and Mimozemky (Šárka Kucerová, Radka Svobodová).

AAA Class awards at the Polish Flyspot Open 2019
The start of the Czech winter season is once again a very busy one for four of the teams. HF Cubs, HF Flying Rebels, HF Chameleons and Rusalky first posted scores for five of the six ICL October sequences before the 10-round meet in November.

This weekend, Jan Klapka takes the HC Cubs and the three 4-way junior teams on a field trip to Poland. Flyspot is back hosting the Polish Indoor Open, after a 1-year break in 2020. The HF Cubs are the defending champions in Poland and will try to defend the AAA Class title. The Russian 4-way team Thunder was the strongest opponent in 2019, while the Polish AAA Class teams will try to get closer to the youngest 4-way Women team in the world.

The HF Flying Rebels, officially the new Czech national team in 4-way Junior (AA), have been training the complete AAA Class dive pool and competed in this category at the November competition on home turf. However, they will try to get ready for defending the 4-way Junior title at the next indoor world meet, and they may decide to collect competition experiences on the AA Class leaderboard in Poland.

The HF Chameleons are in the same situation on their first trip to the Polish Flyspot Open, even though they don't have to compete for the Czech delegation at the indoor world meet. Rusalky have not competed at the same event so far, while they have been regular visitors at indoor meets of the Flyspot Liga events.
