Did You Know...

... that the Airborne VDV comeback became a great high-pressure test for the HF Cubs?

Ultimate 4-way champion in Dubai: Papea Masculino
posted Dec 23rd, 2021 - The indoor re-match of the four teams with its reversed order at the 6th Dubai International Parachuting Championship (DIPC) was surely just as interesting as the 11-round duel between 4Astrophe and Agera FS 2022 at the 1st Dubai International Tunnel Championship (DITC).

The combined scores of both events present another different aspect of the most recent two events in Dubai. The National Skydiving League has featured a combination of indoor and outdoor events at the championships in the past, where the competition draw was even exactly the same. This combination created the ultimate 4-way champions of the participating teams.

The 6th DIPC and the 1st DITC had different competition draws, even though they were somehow connected to each other, at least by the four teams who participated in both events. The combination of the scores still allows a look from the same perspective, as the four teams met each other for ten indoor and ten outdoor rounds.

The dominating outdoor performance of the Spanish CISM team, Papea Masculino, was surprisingly even over-powering the usually significantly higher scores of 4-way indoor competition. Papea placed behind Amnesya and Agera FS 2022 on the indoor leaderboard. However, the strong outdoor performance won the 1st place of the ultimate 4-way combination between the two indoor and outdoor events.

4-way Women awards at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019
The NSL News still saved the best for last, which was featured on the top of the indoor leaderboard of the 1st Dubai International Tunnel Championship (DIPC). Three of the seven indoor teams had not competed at the 6th Dubai International Parachuting Championship (DIPC).

Indonesia had a second lineup for the indoor event. The Russian VDV lineup and HF Cubs traveled to Dubai only for the ten rounds of the indoor part of the double-header, and the competition between the Russian team and the still reigning 4-way Junior world champions from the Czech Republic became the highlight on the top of the indoor leaderboard.

The former 4-way juniors and new Czech 4-way Women indoor team is not ready yet to compete at outdoor events, and they could not attend the 6th DIPC 2021. However, they will most likely challenge the best 4-way Women teams in the world for the top spot at the indoor world cup in April 2022.

The 26.6 average in Dubai was the next significant step towards the highest level in 4-way Women, after the previous 25.1 at the December meet of the Czech Tunnel League. The same 10-round average would have won bronze medals in 4-way Women at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019.

HF Cubs - VDV at the 1st DITC 2021
Airborne VDV in training for the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020
The strong indoor opponents of the HF Cubs in Dubai continue the dramatic story of the Russian team Airborne VDV and connect indirectly with the 4-way outdoor competition of the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020.

The NSL News reported the tragic plane crash at the competition site of the world meet on July 19th. Airborne VDV was supposed to compete for Russia in 4-way Open at the event, after winning the national championships in 2020. The plane crash just a few weeks before the outdoor world meet changed the situation, and Russia was eventually not represented in 4-way Open on home turf.

VDV impressed the NSL News audience and the world's 4-way community with the team's indoor scores after winning the 4-way outdoor qualification for the world meet and before the tragic ending of the team story in August 2021. Georgy Miroshnichenko, who was seriously injured in the plane crash, and his VDV team mate Sergey Seregin now came back with two new team members, Kirill Bukharov and Artur Kindzer. They picked up the pace quickly and started with the ten rounds of indoor competition at the 1st DITC in Dubai.

The Airborne VDV comeback competition turned out to be an exciting battle with the four young ladies from the Czech Republic, who collected some valuable high-pressure meet experiences before they will be facing the best 4-way Women teams in the world in April.
