Did You Know...

... that XPG4 mastered team tryouts, Indoor Cloud League and 3-Way Tunnel Throwdown at the same time?

ICL and 3-way competitors at Paraclete XP

posted Jan 22nd, 2022 - Yesterday's NSL News update that introduced original Kaos Theory XP member Anna Brunner as the new XPG4 member was also the transition to another topic that connects the previous ones related to SDC Rhythm XP, Kaos Theory XP and XPG4 with Paraclete XP's Indoor Cloud League events and XPG4's newly introduced "3-Way Tunnel Throwdown" event.

The weekend of January 8th at Paraclete XP was actually a combination of the events that recently received a lot of attention. Paraclete XP's Indoor Cloud League event of January took place on the Friday evening before the start of the 3-way competition on Saturday.

New XPG4 member Anna Brunner was not selected at that time. The weekend was a part of the indoor tryouts of the U.S. national team in 4-way Women, and Anna Brunner was not the only XPG4 candidate who dedicated as much flying time as possible to warming up for the tryout sessions with the team.

Returning XPG4 members Jeana Billings, Michelle Karamon and Brenn Richards were player-coaches for the Indoor Cloud League lineups, and Morgan Womble was helping her XPG4 team mates of the past years with the ICL event on Friday evening and the 3-way competition on Saturday.

XPG4 with Kirk Verner on the tryout weekend
Anna Brunner participated in both events while trying out for the open XPG4 slot. She was player-coaching one of the Rookie Class lineups and competed in 3-way, as well. Her tryout adventure would then continue the following weekend with the outdoor part at Skydive Arizona.

Paraclete XP's Indoor Cloud League event was very competitive this month. Six different lineups competed for the highest scores in the six ICL categories, and each of the lineups performed at least three different sequences. XPG4 member Brenn Richards was judging the performances of the internal competition of the six lineups for the highest scores in the respective categories.

Kirk Verner and Brian Krause then provided live judging for the 3-way competition on Saturday, while the old and new XPG4 members joined forces with the large group of 3-way competitors.

XPG4 members, Kirk Verner and Brian Krause were so busy with the events that they had no time to perform the two Open Class sequences (AAA/AA) for Paraclete XP's Indoor Cloud League team, which they did randomly in the past years.

Anna Brunner with her ICL Rookie Class lineup
Michelle Karamon and Aviatrixx member Jill Stephemson, who both competed for the U.S. delegation at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020, Michelle Karamon in 8-way, Jill Stephemson in 4-way Women, joined forces with Sam Lecrone and Mike Connors to perform the two Open Class sequences.

They also added the A Class sequence to their ICL agenda, even though their 23-pointer could not be used for Paraclete XP's ICL total on the January account. Jeana Billings player-coached Cheryl Morgan, Jenn and Tim Reynolds to the highscores for the A and RRR sequences.

Morgan Womble and her Rookie Class lineup (John Meyer, Mike Taylor, Joe Nicholson) contributed the 19-pointer for the RR sequence, and Brenn Richards pointed out one of the newest ICL participants in the R Class: "We also had Paraclete student Fahad Saifullah join us for the first time with only 22 skydives, and 15 minutes of tunnel time. Fahad did great and proceeded to join us for the 3-way event as well."

The new XPG4 lineup will have to get back to team work now. There is an indoor world cup and an outdoor world meet coming up this year, and Jeana Billings and Michelle Karamon also have to defend their 8-way world championship title...
