Did You Know...

... that the complete Czech 4-way delegation for the indoor world cup competed earlier this month?

Czech indoor delegation at the world cup in Bahrain 2018
posted Feb 18th, 2022 - The Czech 4-way delegation in 4-way Open, 4-way Women and 4-way Junior for the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 completed their February competition of the Czech Tunnel League at the beginning of the month.

All four teams (HF Cubs, HF Flying Circus, HF Flying Rebels, HF Chameleons) used the ten rounds for more competition practice, even though the two junior teams (HF Flying Rebels, HF Chameleons) posted their scores once again on different leaderboards.

Both teams will compete in the 4-way Junior event at the indoor world cup, which is identical with the AA Class rules and dive pool. However, the official Czech national team in this category, HF Flying Rebels, challenged themselves with the latest AAA Class draw, as they have done in all five meets since the beginning of the winter season in December.

The Flying Rebels have now lifted their AAA Class average from 17.7 in December to the 22.8 this month. It is very difficult to estimate the team's current performance level in a AA Class competition. The Flying Rebels posted their last AA Class scores in June 2020, with a 22.7 average after ten rounds.

HF Cubs - HF Flying Circus at the February meet of the Czech Tunnel League
HF Cubs at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2016
The HF Cubs, 4-way Junior world champions at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019, transitioned from their last AA Class scores in January 2019 (20.7) to the 30.3 winning average in 4-way Junior at the indoor world meet three months later. They had finished the ten AAA Class rounds in April 2019, right before the indoor world meet, with a 23.3 average.

The HF Flying Rebels were on a higher AA Class level than the HF Cubs at their last meet in this category, and their 22.8 average in the AAA Class this month almost matches the 23.3 that the HF Cubs posted in April 2019. There is a good chance that the current Czech national team in 4-way Junior match the scoring numbers that the HF Cubs posted to win the indoor world meet in 2019.

Jan Klapka is bringing two 4-way junior teams to Charleroi in Belgium in April this time. The HF Flying Rebels will try to defend the world championship title for the Czech Republic, while the all-female lineup of the HF Dragonflies collect their first international FAI/ISC meet experiences.

The HF Cubs collected their world cup/world meet experiences over several years (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018) before they eventually won the world championship title in 2019. The HF Flying Rebels could not make the same experiences with the lack of FAI/ISC indoor world cups or world meets since 2019.

HF Flying Rebels - HF Dragonflies at the February meet of the Czech Tunnel League
No FAI/ISC meet experiences: HF Flying Rebels
The HF Chameleons have been on a different path on the way to their first international FAI/ISC event. They started together with the HF Flying Rebels in the A Class of 2017/2018 and both teams moved into AA Class competition in 2018/2019. The Flying Rebels then continued in the AA Class in 2019/2020, while the Chameleons stepped back down to A Class with a new lineup.

Krystýna Cejkova, Aleš Marýsko, Anastasiya Okhmar and Antonín Ondráček came back with different new team members for A Class training and competition, before the current lineup joined the HF Flying Rebels on AAA Class leaderboards at the beginning of the 2021/2022 winter season in November.

AAA Class teams HF Flying Circus (4-way Open) and HF Cubs (4-way Women) both performed on the top level of their scoring numbers at the beginning of February. The complete Czech 4-way delegation has one more opportunity to collect 10-round meet experiences at the league's March meet before traveling to Belgium at the beginning of April.

It will be interesting to see if the two Czech 4-way junior teams will use the last meet practice to compete in the same category, 4-way Junior with the AA Class dive pool and rules, that they are registered for at the indoor world cup.
