Did You Know...

... that six Veloce QRF 8-way teams train at Hell Week and compete at Paraclete XP this weekend?

33.2 average at the Wind Games 2020: Arizona Airspeed
posted Feb 22nd, 2022 - The Paraclete XP Indoor Championship is usually the first event in the United States where Arizona Airspeed is posting the team's newest scores of the year. It used to be the Wind Games in Spain that a few U.S. teams attended in the past. Arizona Airspeed and SDC Rhythm XP both competed in Spain in January 2020, and the event has not taken place again ever since.

Airspeed and Rhythm both have signed up for this year's U.S. indoor championships and their first competition of the year. They have not missed the event since 2017, which was also the last time that Arizona Airspeed did not win the indoor competition at SkyVenture Paraclete XP.

There is no serious challenger for Arizona Airspeed this year at Paraclete XP. Only Doug Barron of Rhythm's 2017 lineup is back with three new team mates, while Airspeed is now going into the third year with the same lineup. The only open question is the meet average for the expected 4-way Open Class winner. The current Airspeed lineup has a 33.2 average in the records after the Wind Games 2020.

SDC Rhythm XP will probably have to fend off a potential challenge by Skydive Midwest NEXT a year after the current lineup posted a 22.0 average at the Paraclete XP event. The Golden Knights may also compete for the silver medals, even though they have a new lineup, as well.

NMP PCH HayaBusa training at Skydive City
Arizona Airspeed has not only turned into the top contender in the United States. The recent change in the lineup of the reigning indoor and outdoor NMP PCH HayaBusa world champions from Belgium has opened an unexpected door to all gold medals at any 4-way events for Arizona Airspeed.

NMP PCH HayaBusa have arrived at Skydive City for their second winter camp in Florida, where they prepare for their first outdoor confrontation with Arizona Airspeed at the Shamrock Showdown 2022. Both teams have not met each other live at an outdoor competition since the USPA Nationals 2019. SDC Rhythm XP competed for the U.S. delegation at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020.

After the Shamrock Showdown, Arizona Airspeed will follow NMP PCH HayaBusa to Europe. Three U.S. teams are pre-registered for the FAI Indoor World Cup in Charleroi, Belgium. SDC Rhythm XP and Skydive Midwest NEXT complete the U.S. indoor delegation. Arizona Airspeed and NMP PCH HayaBusa finish their 2022 season when the Belgians travel again the other direction in October for the outdoor world meet, this time on Airspeed home turf in Eloy.

Prison 9 Training at Paraclete XP - Featuring Texas Skydiving League Director Scott Latinis
New Veloce QRF members: Claire King and Dirk Venter
The largest Veloce QRF delegation in the history of the Paraclete XP indoor event is already in full training swing during 8-way Hell Week at Paraclete XP, where they will compete this weekend. Six Veloce lineups are registered for the 8-way event, either in the Open or in the Intermediate Class.

The Veloce QRF signature lineup, guided by indoor world record holder and Veloce founder Martial Ferre, will surely post their scores on the Open Class leaderboard. There they will face the five U.S. 8-way world champions of Paraclete XP8 with their new three team mates, Matt Davidson, Andrew Happick and Craig Girard.

XP8 will probably win the 8-way competition just as easily as Arizona Airspeed is expected to run away from the field in 4-way Open. However, the competition for the 2nd place could become interesting, as Prison 9 is well trained by now, while Veloce QRF is visiting with three new team members.

Claire King and Dirk Venter from South Africa, InTime owners and operators, have joined the signature lineup, together with former British ACM member Hari Ganapathy. Claire King and Dirk Venter compete in 8-way at Paraclete XP before judging and operating the InTime scoring system at the Shamrock Showdown a week later, together with Jim Rees.
