Did You Know...

... that the top of 4-way leaderboards will have a different ranking order this year?

Expected situation: NMP PCH HayaBusa ready for Round 1
posted Mar 3rd, 2022 - Arizona Airspeed and NMP PCH HayaBusa completed their seven rounds early on the first day of the Shamrock Showdown 2022.

The still reigning 4-way world champions from Belgium are just as much on track as Arizona Airspeed is after the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2022 and Round 7 of the running outdoor competition at Skydive City, even though the leaderboard presents a very different situation compared to the last eight years.

NMP PCH HayaBusa have been on the top of any 4-way leaderboards since they won the world championship title for the first time in Prostejov 2014. They knew that this streak would come to an end this year, and they have been ready for that, as they mentioned in their last NSL Live Talk with new team member Neal Willems in December 2021.

NMP PCH HayaBusa came with the new lineup to Skydive City for the second outdoor training with their new team member, which will be concluded tomorrow with the completion of the ten competition rounds of the Shamrock Showdown. Arizona Airspeed came to Florida with a lot of confidence after a flawless performance at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship, and with the lineup of the past three years. The scores after Round 7 are actually not a big surprise for both teams.

Judging at the Shamrock Showdown 2022
Neal Willems has moved from the 14+ average with Falco to the 21-average level that the new HayaBusa lineup scored at their last training day before the Shamrock duel with Arizona Airspeed at Skydive City. NMP PCH HayaBusa is currently standing at a 21.6 level after Round 7, and they will at least confirm their training performance in competition.

Arizona Airspeed's current lineup, with new team videographer Brendan Haddon, is on the way to become the top contender for FAI gold medals at the world meet in October. They may take both 4-way top spots in the world from NMP CPH HayaBusa this year, as both teams are also registered for the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022.

Jeremie Rollett and Shamrock judges Claire King, Dirk Venter and Jim Rees were observing and judging the 4-way competition, while Jeremie Rollett was coaching the Qatar Falcons 8-way team with a new team member. The judges had more time than usual to follow the actual competition action, as the two teams allowed them to have breaks between the evaluation of the competition rounds.

The remaining three rounds will be completed on Friday morning. Arizona Airspeed and NMP PCH HayaBusa will then follow up on the arm-wrestling contest with commentary of their situation after the ten meet rounds.
