Did You Know...

... that Aerokart Monaco Akdemie moved closer to the expected medal positions?

8-way world champion team mates in 2006: Julien Degen, Bruno Perin, Emmanuel Sarazin (bottom, from right)
posted Mar 24th, 2022 - Three of the four French 4-way Open Class teams who are registered for the FAI Indoor World Cup attended the national indoor championships last week. The winner, Aerokart Monaco Akdemie, is the national team in 4-way Open, as the NSL News reported earlier.

The two other teams for the indoor world cup on the Open Class leaderboard, St Flow Weembi and Once Pakoi, tied each other in 5th place and behind the French national indoor and outdoor team in 4-way Women, France Aérodyne Cypres, and the 4-way Women world champions of 2010, Aerokart Deep Blue.

St Flow Weembi and Once Pakoi did not have to go into a tie-breaking extra round, even though they would be in medal positions behind the national 4-way Open Class indoor team. There is no separate 4-way Women leaderboard at French national championships, and the two teams with all-female lineups placed 2nd and 3rd.

Weembi Nice, with Sylvie Normand and former 4-way and 8-way world champion Julien Degen, plus two more former 4-way (Julien Losantos) and 8-way (Bruno Perin) world champions, were not eligible for medal positions, as team members competed with other teams at the same event.

4-way Women world champions of 2010: Aerokart Deep Blue
Julien Degen's and Bruno Perin's 8-way world champion team mate Emmanuel Sarrazin guided his Once Pakoi lineup once again through the team's 4th competition in the NSL records, and the next one will be the first FAI event for his team mates.

Julien Degen's second team last week was St Flow Weembi, who he has been player-coaching since 2018.

Julien Degen and Emmanuel Sarrazin will be direct opponents at the upcoming indoor world cup, where they will have the opportunity to break their tie of the French indoor nationals over ten new rounds.

The NSL Power Rankings are showing the same two French teams in the middle of the tightest part of the 4-way Open Class leaderboard. Six different teams have scoring histories that indicate meet averages around the 20-average level.

The Belgian team Ayro was just upgraded to this group of contending 4-way Open Class teams, after posting a new 20.0 team record average at the Belgian national indoor championships.

French 4-way junior project: Amelie Tirman and Francoise Simons-Hamouchi
The French national team in 4-way Open, Aerokart Monaco Akdemie, lifted their 24.8 average at the Weembinamic 2021 to the 26.0 last week. The NSL News had introduced the lineup with three former French 4-way junior competitors and Mathieu Quizy with the update on January 26th. Team members Mathieu Quizy and Tom Mattoni continue with the French national outdoor 4-way team after the indoor world cup.

The three former Aerokart 4-way junior competitors were first expected to battle with British team Meraki right behind the expected medal positions. The team's latest performance seems to move the team closer to the three medal contenders behind Arizona Airspeed.

There are still a few weeks for indoor training before the event, and things can change quicker in the indoor world compared to outdoor training and competition.

The first coaches of the French Aerokart 4-way juniors were back in action and could not keep up with them. Deep Blue members Amelie Tirman and Francoise Simons-Hamouchi launched the French 4-way junior project at Aerokart years ago and had a reunion with the complete 2010 lineup at the same event last week. The NSL News will surely follow up on this topic...
