Did You Know...

... that Jeremie Rollett is very pleased with the new Qatar Falcons lineup?

Qatar Falcons in training at Skydive City during the Shamrock Showdown
posted Mar 29th, 2022 - The Qatar Falcons had actually scheduled their participation at the Shamrock Showdown 2022 as a part of their spring camp at Skydive City in Florida. In fact, the spring camp began in North Carolina, where they posted their first scores of the year. The Shamrock Showdown did not include 8-way this time, as no other teams signed up for the event, and the Qatar Falcons were in training while NMP PCH HayaBusa and Arizona Airspeed had their own AAA Class duel.

They trained with their new team member, Saleh Al Mohanadi, in Paraclete XP's 16-foot flying chamber for two hours during 8-way Hell Week, leading into the indoor competition. Saleh Al Mohanadi replaced Ghanim Khalifa Al Kubaisi after the USPA Nationals 2021, and he collected his first 8-way competition experiences at Paraclete XP.

Falcons coach Jeremie Rollett explained during the NSL Live Talk conversation at Skydive City after the seven 4-way rounds on Thursday that his new Falcon, Saleh Al Mohanadi, made his first 8-way jumps ever when the spring camp began. The outdoor competition of the Shamrock Showdown would have been a very early challenge for the new team member.

Saleh Al Mohanadi and Mohammed Al Namlan, who is the team videographer in training for the Qatar Tigers 4-way team, are both products of the B-team project that the Qatar delegation launched a few years ago, and which is now showing the planned results.

Paraclete XP8 - Qatar Falcons at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championships 2022
Mohammed Al Namlan, who was live in the NSL Live Talk with the Qatar Tigers on March 26th, is currently substituting on camera for team videographer Pavel Skotak. He has been training and competing with the Qatar Lions before he was needed when Pavel Skotak injured his hand. Saleh Al Mohanadi grew up in 4-way with the Qatar Cheetahs.

Luc Verstrepen (Cheetahs) and Marin Ferre (Lions) have been in charge to prepare the B-team members for the situation when the national teams, Tigers in 4-way and Falcons in 8-way, would need new team members. It has now become reality, and 8-way coach Jeremie Rollett was glad to have a talented and well trained competitor available for the open slot.

Saleh Al Mohanadi replaced Ghanim Khalifa Al Kubaisi for the Qatar Falcons, and Jeremie Rollett was very happy with the progression of the team after the personnel change. Saleh Al Mohanadi has been in the sport for only three years, and he is keeping up with the 8-way bronze medalists of 2018 and the same lineup that finished in 4th place at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020.

The complete Falcons team made their last jump from an airplane at the USPA Nationals 2021, before the start of the spring training camp at Skydive City, and Saleh Al Mohanadi exited his first 8-way formations from Skydive City's Twin Otter.

Airspeed XP8 - Qatar Falcons at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020
New Qatar Falcons lineup in 2nd place at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship
It is no surprise that coach Jeremie Rollett was pleased with the progression of the new lineup. The 25.8 average at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2022 brought the Qatar Falcons very close to the team's highest scoring and performance level in 2018 and 2019, and it beat the team's previous indoor average of 24.7 at the Weembinamic 2019.

The Qatar Falcons have a very realistic chance to get back to the medal level at the next outdoor world meet in Eloy this year. In fact, even the silver medals would be in reach if the Russian teams will still be banned by FAI/ISC from participating in October.

There are no news of a new French 8-way team for the 2022 season, after the previous lineup disbanded. Realistically, the U.S. team Paraclete XP8 with its new lineup seems to be out of reach for any opponent this year. However, the XP8 scores are still a benchmark for all other teams to evaluate their own performance level.

The Qatar Falcons finished in 2nd place behind XP8 at Saleh Al Mohanadi's first 8-way competition. They were roughly 30 points behind XP8 at each of last year's two outdoor meets. Jeremie Rollett plans to get at least closer with the new lineup, and he has monthly training camps scheduled after the Ramadan break in April. He would also like to attend an outdoor competition in Europe in the summer. He wants to post the highest Falcons average ever at the world meet and then see which set of FAI medals this will bring...
