posted Apr 5th, 2022 - Austria was another country that completed the national indoor championships before any of the participating teams would follow up with the FAI Indoor World Cup, which begins this Thursday.

Windabona Black Mantis had once again no serious opposition this year and added the next national indoor title to the team's collection. The NSL News had reported on 15 September 2020 that Black Mantis had also outscored Final Fire at the outdoor championships for the first time and unified both national 4-way titles.

HSV Red Bull AerodynamiX, the Austrian CISM team, under supervision of Black Mantis member Artur Gazda, lifted their highest indoor average from 14.9 in 2020 to 19.1 this year. It was not enough to put any pressure on Black Mantis, while it won the 2nd place in Austria.

Black Mantis is the only Austrian 4-way team that will compete this week in Charleroi, and their coach Dennis Praet will be at the same place with NMP PCH HayaBusa.

The coaching connection between Austria and Belgium, which the NSL News covered on 24 March 2020, turned into a combined leaderboard at both countries' national indoor championships last month.

Austria and Belgium agreed to schedule their events on the same weekend and use the same competition draw. Black Mantis knew that there would not be much opposition or even pressure, and the organizers agreed to synchronize the events the same way as it happens in the NSL Network.

Black Mantis could not get anywhere close to the two Belgian top teams, while their team name appeared right behind NMP PCH HayaBusa and ISR FireFlash on the combined leaderboard.

HSV Red Bull AerodynamiX, with the team's significantly increased performance and scoring level, were able to split the two other Belgian teams who will compete at the indoor world cup this week. Ayro and Phoenix had both finished with new team record averages, as well.

Black Mantis and the four Belgian 4-way teams will meet live at the same place this time. As on the combined Austrian/Belgian AAA Class leaderboard, they will not challenge each other much in Charleroi. NMP PCH HayaBusa and ISR FireFlash will compete for FAI medals, while Windabona Black Mantis may have a chance to be involved in a battle for the last Top 10 spot.

Black Mantis have a 24.0 average in the team records that the previous lineup posted in February 2020 with a fast competition draw. The current lineup would become a serious Top 10 contender if they turn the 22.3 in March to the apparently required 24+ average for a Top 10 position.

Ayro and Phoenix cannot challenge the Austrians, and the ranking order between the Belgian teams and Black Mantis will probably not change at all.

Ayro and Phoenix will have their own assignments and goals, as the 30-team field in 4-way Open can be expected to create exciting battles all across the leaderboard. Round 1 is scheduled for Thursday morning, and the NSL News is setting up office in Charleroi.
