posted Apr 6th, 2022 - The official part of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 began with the speed test for all participating teams on Wednesday morning. The three 4-way Junior teams were first in the starting order, followed by 4-way Women, 4-way Open and 4-way VFS.

The latest adjustments in the NSL Power Rankings for the event included the 4-way Junior teams, where the Czech HF Flying Rebels seemed to be the top contender earlier last month. This changed after the results of the French Indoor Nationals in March, and all three teams seemed to be closer to each other than before.

The official speed test on Wednesday morning confirmed the adjustment, and the audience can probably expect an exciting 4-way Junior competition for the three sets of FAI medals.

The HF Flying Rebels still impressed the audience and 4-way competitor (Monaco Aerodyne) and father (Noe and Tom Mattoni) Stephane Mattoni in a special way, when the Czech team entered the flying chamber for their second speed test. They went through all 16 AA Class blocks in the numerical order within the same flying session.

The performance of the complete dive pool within one and the same flying session is nothing really new in training. However, it was the first time that a team was showing it during an official flying session before a competition, at least at events that the NSL News has visited in the past.

Stephane Mattoni was impressed with this special feature too, while he was watching his daughter Noe in the tail slot for the French Aerokart Ak'demie junior team. He provided some expert commentary for the NSL News during the 4-way Junior speed test.

He also mentioned that the 4-way world better watches out when his son Tom Mattoni and the French 4-way Open Class team enter the flying chamber. He said that the team has made great progress in the last three months, and especially after posting the 26.0 average at the French Indoor Nationals.

The NSL News camera was back near the flying chamber when it was flying time for the three former 4-way juniors and Mathieu Quizy with Aerokart Monaco Ak'demie, and it surely recorded impressive footage, which will be added with a later update.

The 4-way Women teams followed the 4-way Junior teams into the flying chamber for their speed tests, which featured the two expected and exciting duels for the three sets of medals.

The competition between HF Cubs and the French national team for the top spot and FAI gold medals could become even more exciting than so far expected. In fact, the last impressions after the speed test caused the latest adjustment in the NSL Power Rankings.

It seems like Stéphane Mattoni's predicted progression of the French 4-way Open Class team has been copied by the 4-way Women lineup in the run-up to the indoor world cup. Apparently, the HF Cubs have to be ready for a fierce battle on the top of the leaderboard.
