Did You Know...

... that the three medal positions in 4-way Open seem to be taken after the Super Sequence?

4-way Junior leader after Round 3: HF Flying Rebels

posted Apr 7th, 2022 - Round 1 of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 kept the rankings mostly in the expected order in 4-way Open and 4-way Women. The NSL News camera recorded almost the complete round in all three categories and introduced the teams as much as possible.

The situation in 4-way Junior was very different, as the eight rounds began with a fast Super Sequence. HF Flying Rebels and Aerokart Ak'demie mastered it and had only one point deduction each. The HF Chameleons fell behind after four penalties and a slower pace.

The French 4-way juniors won the round with a new world record and had the lead for one round. The HF Flying Rebels continued strongly after losing only one point and won the next two rounds. They have a 5-point lead after Round 3 and two more technical rounds.

Gary Smith explained yesterday that the AAA Class sequence of Round 2 could easily split the field after the slower beginning of the competition in 4-way Open and 4-way Women.

Three teams on the creeper pad on Thursday
The coverage of Round 2 began with a visit at the busy creeper area, where three teams had now taken the available space on the creeper podium. The engineering of the Super Sequence was the purpose of the visit, and Gary Smith explained more of the details before the teams were called to the flying chamber.

Gary Smith was right about the potential of the round, even though the split happened in a different and unexpected way. The young French Aerokart Ak'demie team won the Super Sequence and was tied with Arizona Airspeed on the top of the leaderboard after Round 2.

NMP PCH HayaBusa, known for enjoying fast sequences, tied Airspeed's 54-pointer and seem to be on the way back to their previous pace with new inside center Neal Willems.

The medal positions are taken after the Super Sequence if nothing changes in Round 4, the next faster sequence. Skydive Midwest NEXT is in 4th place without any point deductions and trails the bronze medal position by 11 points after Round 2. Gary Smith evaluated the outcome of Round 2 after the preview last night and the preparations this morning.
