Did You Know...

... that Brazil's INIT-Y have the momentum of teams in the Top 10 battle?

Securely in 1st place: HF Flying Rebels in Charleroi
posted Apr 8th, 2022 - Gary Smith was right on point with his evaluation of the competition draw. The whole second day of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 did not change much on the leaderboards in 4-way Open and 4-way Women.

In fact, the teams in the medal positions just solidified the situation at the end of the first day and the first four rounds. Arizona Airspeed and HF Cubs were even able to extend their respective leads in 4-way Open and 4-way Women. The Czech team also added some distance to ISR FireFlash on the combined AAA leaderboard, where they are holding the 4th place behind Arizona Airspeed, Aerokart Ak'demie and NMP PCH HayaBusa.

It seems like the Czech delegation has secured the two gold medal positions that the NSL News mentioned yesterday, as the HF Flying Rebels have extended their lead over Aerokart Ak'demie to 14 points after Round 6.

There is only one area of the leaderboard that still promises exciting competition, which is what the NSL News has been calling the Top 10 battle. The last NSL Power Rankings before Round 1 were showing that several teams were expected to claim a ranking position in the Top 10 of the 4-way Open Class leaderboard.

Top 10 momentum: INIT-Y from Brazil
French national coach Mathieu Bernier and HayaBusa coach Gary Smith did not talk too much about the Top 10 situation on Friday in the newest NSL Live Talk conversation. They have the medal positions in their minds when they look at leaderboards, even though French 4-way team St Flow Weembi may still have a slight chance to make the Top 10.

His 4-way team mate of Menzelinsk 2010, where he won gold medals in 4-way and in 8-way for France at the same event, Julien Degen, is player-coaching St Flow Weembi and is fully aware of the team's situation on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard. Mathieu Bernier and Julien Degen were also 8-way world champion team mates in 2006 and 2008.

The NSL News mentioned HF Flying Circus in the coverage of the amazing success of the Czech delegation in Charleroi, and the 4-way Open Class team has apparently already secured a Top 10 position. Five other teams around the 10th place are separated by three points and will have the last two rounds to get into the Top 10.

Dutch team Out Of The Blue and INIT-Y from Brazil are currently tied in 10th place, and the Brazilian team seems to have the momentum to take it alone, after highscores in the two last rounds on Friday.
