Did You Know...

... that the complete Nephtys lineup continue with outdoor training and competition?

Nephtys Weembi at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019
posted Apr 14th, 2022 - The 4-way Women competition for the top spot at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 had a very interesting similarity compared to the 4-way Open Class leaderboard. Both events had an undisputed winner at the end of the competition, who gave away only one round and allowed the team in 2nd place to tie another score.

Even the point difference in the one lost round was the same, four points for Airspeed in Round 2, four points for HF Cubs in Round 3. However, the total numbers of points after Round 10 were significantly different. Arizona Airspeed did not leave France or Belgium even the slightest chance to get anywhere close (346 - 317), while France ended up only 13 points behind Czech Republic in 4-way Women (285 - 272).

The Nephtys pointed out during the NSL Live Talk conversation on Saturday that they still had hopes at the end of the first day, when they were only two points behind after four rounds.

The French team took some time between the end of the competition and the award ceremony to review the competition and discuss the plans for the near future. They also explained the meaning of the team name that they were using at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019 and that they have kept.

In the TV studio 2019: Jessica Thebault
Pamela Lissajoux, Elise Poindron and Jessica Thebault were Nephtys team mates when they won the indoor world championship title in 2019, even though Jessica Thebault participated only as a commentator in the TV studio after an injury shortly before the competition.

Pamela Lissajoux, outdoor world champion in 4-way Women in Australia 2018, added the indoor title to her collection at Weembi 2019, when she stepped in for Jessica Thebault. National coach Mathieu Bernier recruited her back into the 4-way Women lineup for the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020 last August, where France ended up in 2nd place behind Russia.

Gaelle Giesen was Pamela Lissajoux's outdoor team mate in Russia, after being the 4-way Women alternate in Australia 2018. She also competed with the French 8-way team and won two FAI silver medals in Tanay. Mathieu Bernier himself took the open 8-way slot, as Pamela Lissajoux had signed up only for the 4-way plans. Pamela Lissajoux, Jessica Thebault and Gaelle Giesen finally all came together for the new Nephtys lineup with Elise Poindron, and they have been enjoying the indoor part of the Nephtys journey so far, even though they honestly admitted some disappointment after the indoor world cup, as well.

France had two different lineups for 4-way Women indoor and outdoor competition so far. Last year's outdoor lineup (Gaelle Giesen, Pamela Lissajoux, Christine Malnis, Sophia Pecout, Michel Laynaud on camera) did not attend any indoor meets, while the Nephtys competed only indoors.

This will change now, as the complete Nephtys lineup continue with outdoor training and competition throughout the 2022 season. They plan to complete 350 - 400 training jumps in the southern parts of France before facing the world's strongest outdoor teams in 4-way Women in Eloy this October.

The HF Cubs will not be in their way at the outdoor world meet, where British team NFTO, U.S. team XPG4, and the new 4-way Women world champions from Russia, Bubbles, are expected to be the strongest opponents - if the Russian teams will be allowed to participate.

Gaelle Giesen has her own experiences with Bubbles, after the battle at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020, where her team could not copy the Russian exit skills and lost by two points. The Nephtys will be more familiar with the exits from familiar aircraft this time, after 350 - 400 training jumps.
