Did You Know...

... that Hungary's family team Bronteroc posted a new national record average?

Bronteroc for Hungary at the Opening Ceremony
posted Apr 19th, 2022 - One of the nine 4-way Open Class teams who placed exactly in the ranking position of the last NSL Power Rankings before the start of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 was Bronteroc from Hungary.

Bronteroc is a new team from Hungary that attended their first competition at the Czech Indoor Open in January this year. They finished with a 21.5 average at the Hurricane Factory, which was already the highest indoor result of a team from Hungary in the country's Formation Skydiving competition history.

Bronteroc lifted the meet average to 23.3 at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022, which was more than enough to catch the attention of other teams, observers and the NSL News. Bronteroc were even tied with SDC Rhythm XP in 10th place after the four rounds on the first day of the competition.

They could not keep up the same pace, which even the team itself was probably not very familiar with, and they eventually finished in the expected 17th place in the 29-team field with the new team record average and a new record number for Hungary. The NSL News used the opportunity to learn more of the team history after the completion of the event.

Hungary at FAI World Championships of Formation Skydiving since 1985
Intrudairz from Hungary at the World Challenge 2018
Teams from Hungary have randomly participated in international 4-way competitions, even though there has not been a consistent presence at FAI/ISC world meets and world cups. Even an 8-way team (Intrudairz) once joined the 8-way competition of the World Challenge 2018. In fact, two Bronteroc members (Gabor Verebes, Jozsef Kiss) were in the Hungarian 8-way lineup in Bedford.

Jozsef Kiss, player-coaching Bronteroc, and Gabor Verebes are experienced 4-way competitors and have trained and competed with several different teams from Hungary in the past. Hanga Verebes-Kéri is not new to 4-way competition, as well, after her time with Not Your March.

Gabor Kiss, 22 years of age, is the youngest and least experienced team member. However, his father and team mate Jozsef Kiss began 2-way indoor training with him ten years ago. He entered the 4-way indoor world two years ago, joined the Bronteroc indoor lineup at the end of 2021 and made his first skydive earlier last year. Father Jozsef and son Gabor Kiss are not Bronteroc's only family connection. Hanga Verebes-Keri is also Gabor Verebes' cousin's wife and completes the 4-way family lineup.

Bronteroc at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 - NSL Live Talk with Bronteroc
Hanga Verebes-Keri with Not Your March at Flyspot 2017
Hungary sent a national 4-way team to the outdoor world championships five consecutive times between 1991 and 1999. A long break followed until a new lineup was back in Prostejov 2014 and followed up at the 5th Dubai International Parachuting Championship in December the same year.

There have not been any other teams from Hungary at outdoor world meets or world cups ever since. Hanga Verebes-Keri is actually the only Bronteroc member who attended an FAI/ISC event with Not Your March at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2016, until the whole team now posted the 23.3 indoor average in Charleroi.

Bronteroc are at least considering the option of planning a trip to Skydive Arizona and the FAI Outdoor World Meet in October. The 13.4 average of 1999 is the standing outdoor record for Hungary. It's a long and expansive trip to Arizona, while the next FAI Indoor World Meet will take place nearby at the Hurricane Factory in Slovakia that the Hungarian team is very familiar with.

Bronteroc will not yet eat up the whole 4-way world at the next indoor and outdoor world meets and world cups, as the team's name-giving dinosaur does at the end of the movie "Don't Look Up". The Bronteroc members knew instantly that this would be the team name when they watched the movie together...
