posted Apr 23rd, 2022 - The first preview of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 on February 17th featured the 4-way delegations of all registered countries at this point in time. Russia was on the top of the list, with seven registered teams in the three horizontal Formation Skydiving events.

The first preview with NSL Power Rankings did not include the Russian teams any longer, after FAI/ISC had decided to "suspend the members of Russia and Belarus with immediate effect" from the event. The NSL News posted the according update on March 8th, together with the NSL Power Rankings in 4-way Women and 4-way Junior.

These two events had included Bubbles in 4-way Women and two 4-way Junior teams from Russia. Bubbles would have taken the top position in 4-way Women, as the NSL News expected the Russian 4-way Women outdoor world champions to take the indoor lead, as well, and they confirmed the expectations with the 30.8 average at the 2nd Russian Indoor Cup this week.

Four additional Russian teams had planned to compete in 4-way Open. The NSL Power Rankings for this event would have placed Airborne VDV probably in contention for FAI bronze medals, together with NMP PCH HayaBusa and ISR FireFlash, after the team's results around the 30-average level at several previous events. IFS-Moscow would have been expected at about the same area on the leaderboard.

The results of the 2nd Russian Indoor Cup earlier this week confirmed the expectations, and the same three senior teams (Airborne VDV, Bubbles, IFS-Moscow) would have been in medal contention at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022.

It is always difficult to compare different competition draws and the respective scores, especially if a Super Sequence allows teams to boost their meet averages. By coincidence, both events had similarities in their ten rounds. Even the two Super Sequences were both drawn for Round 2.

20 of the 22 blocks were drawn in Russia, together with all 16 random formations. All six slot-switching sequences were mixed into the sequences in six different rounds. Blocks 1 and 11 were not drawn.

The draw of the indoor world cup included 20 blocks, as well, while two of the slot-switching blocks (5 and 10) had not made it into the 10-round draw in Charleroi, together with three of the 16 random formations.

There is no doubt that Bubbles would have been a very serious opponent for the HF Cubs. Airborne VDV and IFS-Moscow would have been in contention for medal positions in 4-way Open, as well. FAI/ISC will soon have to decide whether teams from Russia will be invited to the outdoor world meet or not.
