posted May 5th, 2022 - The FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 also included the next Spanish duel between Windabona Angels and Alakran for the top spot behind the national team, Papea Masculino.

Spain's military CISM lineup has been out of reach for any other Spanish 4-way teams. Papea Masculino have been representing Spain at the military CISM world championships and usually allow only well trained top teams like NMP PCH HayaBusa, Qatar Tigers or U.S. and German lineups to place ahead of them.

Different Papea lineups have also competed for Spain at the FAI World Championships of Formation Skydiving in Australia 2018, at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019, and at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020. They have this year's CISM world championship coming soon again in June before they will begin with preparations for the next FAI outdoor world meet in Eloy.

The NSL News covered the team record performance of Papea Masculino at the indoor world cup earlier, where they finished in 8th place in 4-way Open and defended their Top 10 spot on the combined AAA Class leaderboard, as well.

Papea Masculino at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 and at the 6th Dubai International Parachuting Championship

Papea Masculino's record performance and their competition with other world class teams behind the medal rankings was exciting enough, while the duel between the other two Spanish teams on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard did not get as much attention.

They were engaged with other international teams, as well, ahead of them and behind, while they were facing each other on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard. Eventually, Windabona Angels won this internal Spanish duel once again.

The story of this Spanish duel began at the World Challenge 2018. The NSL News featured Alakran's consistent presence at the Bedford event with an overview of the team career when Windabona Angels competed at the same event for the first time.

Alakran were in Bedford for their first AAA Class competition in 2018, while Windabona Angels finished in 2nd place on the AA Class leaderboard. Both teams were back for AAA Class competition at the World Challenge a year later, after their first direct confrontation on the same leaderboard at the Wind Games 2019.

Alakran was the more experienced 4-way team at that time, after entering the 4-way competition world under the team name Lahottia in the Rookie Class of the World Challenge 2018, with exactly the same lineup that competed in Charleroi last month.

Windabona Angels moved up quickly to AAA Class competition and began to catch up to the Alakran level step by step. It was the Spanish Indoor Nationals in February 2020 when Windabona Angels finally won this duel for the first time.

Both teams have not faced each other ever since and throughout the corona virus crisis, and Windabona Angels posted their first scores after the break, according to the NSL News records, at this year's Spanish Indoor Nationals in February.

Alakran competed twice before the indoor meet at Airspace Charleroi, including the Spanish Outdoor Nationals 2021. The two Spanish teams then finished closer to each other than ever before at the indoor world cup, both with new team record averages.
