posted May 16th, 2022 - The NSL News reported on May 1st how the two teams from Brazil helped to set a new indoor participation record for teams visiting Europe from overseas. Three U.S. teams (Arizona Airspeed, Skydive Midwest NEXT, SDC Rhythm XP) and the two Brazilian 4-way teams (INIT-Y, So Pressao) posted their scores on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022.

In addition, Brazil's military 4-way lineup of the Netunos had attended the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2022 earlier this year.

The same three teams from Brazil also posted more scores on their own leaderboard at the end of March. Netunos had already returned from North Carolina with a 19.3 average in the team records. They had finished in 1st place on the 4-way AAA/Advanced Class leaderboard. The Netunos then had exactly a month of time to prepare for the next indoor meet in Brazil.

INIT-Y and So Pressao could use the March meet of the Brazil Tunnel League to complete another eight rounds as the last competition practice for the indoor world cup in Belgium a few weeks later.

Netunos used the additional time efficiently and increased their finishing average from 19.3 at Paraclete XP to 20.8 at Copa iFLY. That was enough to threaten So Pressao for their runner-up position behind Brazil's indoor and outdoor champions of INIT-Y.

So Pressao saved a 1-point advantage over Netunos at the end of the 8-round battle in Brazil, and they could take the domestic experiences straight into the international 4-way field in Charleroi, where they were engaged in a tight competition with teams from Spain and Lithuania on their part of the world cup leaderboard.

INIT-Y improved their 22.0 average in the 12-foot flying chamber in Brazil to 23.4 at Airspace Charleroi, which was the highest average of the new lineup in a 10-round meet and in a 14-foot chamber. The teams in Brazil have shorter meets, as they cannot apply the complete FAI/ISC dive pool in their smaller flying chambers. Two more meets of the Brazil Tunnel League are scheduled for the 2022 season and before the national indoor championships.
